More on Fatyanovo and MDC (Are you tired yet?) The mid-length spade axes appear almost exlusively in Balanovo an Oka-Desninskaya, and avoid the Fatyanovo proper, making it possible to date this artefact to after 2500bc with the Balanovo Culture.
Long spade axes appear only in Fatyanovo itself, meaning they are probably Earlier
Short spade axes appear in both, but they appear the most in Balanovo. I would date these between the Long and Mid-length ones, somewherea around 2600bcv, with the start of the MDC. Balanovo would not yet be fully formed, but the Fatyanovo Middle Volga-Upper Volga mixed group
A similar situation is with the Drilled Hammer Axes. Short ones are only found in Balanovo and Oka-Desninskaya, Long ones only in Fatyanovo proper.
