Mahmoud Khalil’s interview with Ezra Klein brought up a problematic and recurrent theme in the “pro-Palestine” movement that must be dispelled and rejected. Khalil invoked the repetitive and tired idea that the October 7 attack by Hamas was an inevitability, when the truth is far
@afalkhatib You make a terrible Muslim if you’re not a determinist. Unfortunately, confining this phenomenon to Hamas and terrorism and not the wider Ummah discredits Allah. Js.
@afalkhatib How do we get you on a major news cast to provide the pragmatic perspective? They only take this fools word because he got swept up by ICE, meanwhile he made himself a target and continues to show that he has not changed any of the rhetoric that landed him in captivity in the
@afalkhatib @ezraklein hasn't done better for Israel, Jews, or Palestinians. He is a weak journalist and has harmed all sides.
@afalkhatib @scoopercooper It took more than two psychopaths.
@afalkhatib All actions of both Hamas and Israel are choices and nothing is inevitable, and typical of all war choices, nothing turns out as expected and innocents pay the price for political decisions. They make speeches while people die.
@afalkhatib The worst part is that so many influencers and "experts" consider Hamas actions to be completely legitimate as an act of "resistance" and justify some obscure UN right to use armed force
@afalkhatib Holy shit Ahmed, this is amazing and I truly mean it. And I am telling you right now, if even just 60% of Palestinian Arabs understood what you just wrote, we'd already have peace within our lifetime. YOU are the kind of person I would love to have as my neighbor, no joke.
@afalkhatib There’s something to be said about letting people hand themselves in an interview.
@afalkhatib "The suppressed people of Gaza" The truth is, you can't have 5000 men going on rape and murder spree in broad day light, filming and openly sharing their atrocities, and thousands more celebrating in the streets without the moral support of the society. This is what the
@afalkhatib I personally hope Khalil keeps doing these interviews and sharing his true thoughts and feelings more and more so the US has more evidence for his deportation case 🤗
@afalkhatib dude, Gaza is the way Gaza is because that's been bibi's strategy to divide Palestinians. inevitable might be strong, but definitely something engineered by israeli gov to be highly probable
@afalkhatib So much good stuff in here and/but as a thread it would likely have had more reach and impact.
@afalkhatib And @ezraklein has done nothing, as usual, to challenge the Hamas apologist he invited to his podcast; for people like Ezra, being 'progressive' means championing regressive and destructive ideologues like Khalil.
@afalkhatib Mahmoud Khalil is a Hamas operative. He was found passing out Hamas material, with its insignia, to university students, trying indoctrinate students on behalf of Hamas. He’s provided material support to the terror group, which is why he’s in deportation proceedings.
@afalkhatib To @ezraklein Why do a softball interview with Khalil, doesn’t represent Palestinians, having never even been to Gaza. Some voices from Gaza, who actually oppose Hamas:
@afalkhatib Ezra Klein wrote a whole book about the importance of delivering abundance. But when interviewing someone who is preaching violence and destruction, which is the complete opposite of abundance, it never occurs to him to bring it up. 🤦♂️
@afalkhatib That is vile @ezraklein the US has truly become a place for the most extreme terrorism- & Nazism supporting voices and it all seems normal to them apparently. The country is in deep trouble. A few years back I would have never thought Ezra Klein would participe in such insanity.
@afalkhatib Dude, Gaza’s been an open-air prison for over 20 years. The peaceful March of Return was brutally repressed. Something like this was bound to happen — not least because Netanyahu helped finance Hamas. That doesn’t excuse Hamas’s actions, of course.
@afalkhatib BTW Ezra Klein does not love his people any more than Hamas loves yours. He and his ilk are pompous engorged on self importance. They are happy to trample the “ little people “ from their funded power perch But u truly ❤️ your people and want a better life 4 them. Show them 🇮🇱 ❤️
@afalkhatib It was inevitable because at their core these are violent people who know no other way of addressing grievances. They are violent at their core and he was inadvertently telling us that we cannot negotiate with them. Its the reason why we don;t negotiate with terrorists
@afalkhatib U ❤️ ur people. Hamas, PA etc don’t. U recognize that hate destroys never creating ☮️ But the most right gov in 🇮🇱would be the most moderate for all Arab countries. Imagine their response to Oct7. If u see ❤️from 🇮🇱 people shown to urs 4 yrs , that is way 4 ☮️ 2 way ❤️ is real☮️
@afalkhatib There’s no “do better” with ppl like Ezra Klein. There are evil ppl in the world, and there always will be. We should be trying to show reasonable, moral ppl that the evil ppl of the world are evil ppl so they lose influence and control.
@afalkhatib @ezraklein you are getting under the Zionist skin- keep up your work
@afalkhatib I could write pages and pages of 🇮🇱 ❤️ towards Palestinians. All people really. 🇮🇱 is a sanctuary for Arabs, Jews, Druze , Christians, Baha’i. With full equality. 🇮🇱 has given so much love to African and Arab nations in agriculture , life saving water tech etc 2 way ❤️ is answer
@afalkhatib Good Post. But you are practically excusing the likes of Ismail Hanniya, Khaled Mashal and Others, who are equally, if not more, culpable in the War Crimes of Oct 7 by naming just Sinwar and Dief. The whole Hamas leadership should be held culpable.
@afalkhatib I agree with much of your criticism. However I see the public in Gaza (and the rest of the Sunni Muslim Mideast) as viewing Israel's existence as an abomination that must be liquidated. Is that changing?
@afalkhatib All true, but claiming that Oct 7 was inevitable implies Palestine Arabs can never be trusted with a state because it would become a platform to attack Jews: peace requires that Palestinian Arabs abandon Hamas and all similarly fanatical nihilists.
@afalkhatib Exactly. Klein represents the left in Israel, known as "the soul beauty" whose fake "beauty" is intended to obscure the terrible ugliness, the ugliness of the megalomaniacal communist left, which leads the line of incitement, terror, and murder around the world, just to justify
@afalkhatib As a fellow Palestinian, I think you are very much full of shit. You criticize everything about Palestinians ability to resist violently and even non-violently the occupation but not a single post about the cruelty of occupation, Israeli systematic theft of land and recourses1/2
@afalkhatib I think the 'real Palestinians' need to get their story straight. You also omitted Qatar's ownership in this. Qatar, Iran, and the brotherhood can organize protests world wide. Why can't all the 'real Palestinians' around the globe organize a single event?
@afalkhatib The only inevitably about Hamas and Gaza, is that believers in any utopian, authoritarian, nihilistic ideology place no limit on the amount of death and destruction they can excuse as necessary to achieve their misguided goals.
@afalkhatib @mdubowitz From the river to the sea Isreal will be in charge of thee
@afalkhatib Not by diaspora Palestinians - particularly those who are blind to Israeli crimes. If the cap fits!
@afalkhatib @threadreaderapp pls unroll
@afalkhatib Do you have a base of Palestinian support? Did Hamas know that Israel would withdraw a brigade plus on Oct 7 and not patrol the border? Did it know there was a dance festival? What were its actual expectations given Shalit? Was Hamas immune to pressure, to baiting & taunting?
@afalkhatib Point of clarification: Ezra Klein has a Jewish name, not a Jewish voice.
