She is the youngest billionaire you've never heard of... Melanie Perkins. She was a university teacher who built a $40B company from scratch. Her strategy was so simple yet effective, Photoshop, Illustrator and Figma envy her success. Today, she's worth $5.8 Billion—at 38.

Melanie didn’t start with Canva. She started in a tiny apartment in Perth, Australia. Her first idea? A yearbook design tool called Fusion Books. No VC interest or Silicon Valley spotlight. Just an obsession and a dream.

She emailed 100+ investors. Nobody cared. Nobody replied. Except one: Bill Tai. A venture capitalist and kite-surfing fanatic. He invited her to pitch, if she learned to kite surf.

Melanie did learn to kite surf. She showed up, pitched hard, and captured Tai’s attention. But getting funding? Still brutal. She pitched Canva again and again... The idea was too early for investors to understand.

Then came her breakthrough. A simple pitch: “We want to make design as easy as drag and drop.” That clarity changed everything. And helped raise the first $3 million.

In 2013, Canva launched quietly. No Silicon Valley buzz and ZERO hype. But people LOVED the product, especially non-designers. Canva solved what Adobe ignored — simplicity.

It spread like wildfire. Teachers, startup founders and freelancers everyone needed a simple and fast designing tool. They told their friends. No ads. No PR. Canva grew to 10M+ users before internet even noticed.

Melanie focused on real pain points: • Expensive tools • Complicated UX • No access for everyday creators She didn’t chase features rather focused on clarity.

By 2021, Canva hit a whopping $40B valuation. Melanie became one of the world’s richest self-made women. Without a flashy PR and Silicon Valley's validation. Her relentless execution made her one of the most influential person on Earth

Today? Canva is going after the BIG guys. • Microsoft Office • Google Workspace • Adobe Creative Cloud They’re not scared rather they are being strategic.

But the market turned and Canva's valuation dropped from $40B to $26B. Now, Canva must turn free users into paying ones. The next chapter? Profitability at scale and a shot at owning the future of work.

Melanie built Canva without a personal brand, but imagine the power dynamics if she had one. If you're a founder with an idea, you don't need 100+ VCs. You just need 100,000 people who trust you This is how personal branding helps you WIN.

Founders - We'll build your personal/brand on 𝕏 (and beyond) while you leave it on cruise control. We've already helped 40+ Founders get 1.2 billion combined views. Interested in how we can do this for you? Book your free discovery call here: https://calendly.com/4socials/...

@themustufakhan The real question is, what color are her nipples? I suspect a beautiful medium tan with hints of pink

@themustufakhan And she's cute too

@themustufakhan Not... 🙄

@themustufakhan Let me guess, no kids , no husband.

@themustufakhan Here’s an (older) article, but wow, if only more young women wanted to emulate her…This article covers a lot! She’s amazing!

@themustufakhan AI will probably nip the need for CANVA in the bud.

@themustufakhan A lesson that UX and usability is fundamentally best-selling point of any software, it's the rest why Excel will likely never die as a Data Analytics too.

@themustufakhan Canva is amazing,she saved us from heavy and boring programmes,thank you Melanieeee 🫶🏻

@themustufakhan Worthiness aside, her story redefines success beyond valuation, inspiring many.
