π‘ Axis Bank Pays ~βΉ2.4 for EACH Accor Mile! Sounds crazy, right? Most people (me included) assume banks buy miles dirt cheap. But I recently got my hands on actual numbers - straight from a #ccgeek insider who works with the companies selling these miles - and the truth is
@ccg33k While accor might be blowing a hole or not I am surprised to see ITC and flying blue at the places they are! Worst case scenario for the bank for atlas: 60k accor - βΉ144,000 120k Qantas (assuming βΉ1) - βΉ120,000 Thats βΉ264,000 cost. And atlas being a card which at bare
@cards_wizard 100% bro, will most probably be the first card to get devalued whenever ax is realizes this. π€‘
@ccg33k Isnβt it better that axis give option to redeem it as βΉ4 per axis mile. Itβs a win win situation for both customers and axis.
@AayushGoyal_01 1) Not everyone converts to Accor 2) Group A has caps. 3) Having miles transfer is a feature that attracts customer, but is expensive for them to maintain. especially at 1:2 - they may reduce reward rate in future or make group A transfers 1:1
@ccg33k If the selling price (2.4) > cost (2.0) , then why put restrictions on point redemption? Isnβt it beneficial for A-ccor to allow points redemption on everything?
@Pradnya_007 Accor is not charging 2.4, The third party is charging 2.4 which is buying miles from Accor for maybe at much lower rate and minting cash as they had monopoly earlier. Competition is coming up in form of big players.
@ccg33k Can say about 1 partner that this number isn't correct π
@aman6490 I would think so too, but this is coming from the third party who is keeping margins/commission and buying miles from Accor directly. You're probably thinking of that number. These third parties probably buy in bulk at lower cost. Third Party <-> Axis numbers are verified, not
@ccg33k Must say I am surprised.. Rs 2 point is being bought at Rs 2.4 by the bank. Prior to this Euro strengthening, ALL point was worth Rs 1.8.. Do u have any update at what price is HDFC buying these points with their Smartbuy (3x/5x feature), I believe that must be a high cost to
@BachatXpert HDFC reduces that cost by allowing 2:1 transfer for such partners. They're playing safe.
@ccg33k But only 5-10% people transfer miles who has miles oriented card in any form. Most focus on revenue redemption or products from rewards catalog.
@gautam888 Only referring to Atlas. Those who have Atlas, won't do 1:1 redemption when they can do 1:2:4 with Accor. People doing 1:1 on travel edge has very less chances given how complex navigating to that app is. Baaki MR -> cash redemption karne waale log bhi hain hi duniya mein.
@ccg33k Accor hi Axis ka Bantadhar krega ππ. And yup the numbers are correct as per my sources too. As per this, Atlas is the most self-damaging product Axis has ever launched ππ
@VoyageBliss haha - true that. Ticking bomb. π£
@ccg33k Akash bhai, I am not surprised but itβs really interesting to know the actual number. What the banks get in return could be higher π Also, people working in these functions at banks have an NDA. Not really good of the person who shared this with you, if he broke an NDA
@pointperkspicks :-) - lets just say no NDA's were harmed.
@ccg33k WhatsApp groups se buyback karlo π«£π«£ Saste padenge π π
@RewardsMaverick πππ
@ccg33k If this is really the case we will see devaluation of Atlas sometime in nrar future. Don't think it is sustainable
@Manik_Bansal_ yeah - even without these numbers, its unsustainable. They're known for these antics. From 25% miles on 1L to 14% uncapped miles (now capped) They have reshuffled whole management recently too.
@ccg33k May be true, may be not but Axis was the bigger buyer for them. Miles are always costly but remember unlike cashback it's not a sure shot cost. Cashback are 100% deductions but miles are based on usage and depending on what's the penetration and how many folks actually redeem
@ccg33k If anyone still think Axis paying βΉ2.4 for Accor sounds unrealistic, check what NPCI charges banks for RuPay Select DC perks post utilisation cap of 1 to 3% at the portfolio level and actual utilisation among cc geeks can be as high as 60 to 70%.
@ccg33k Axis ko koi kuch nahi bolega aj ke bad.
@ccg33k Lol how? We can buy accor poins at 1-1.5rs using Brazilian program then why banks are paying 2x
@ccg33k If Atlas is devalued, Axis CC division will be gone. Nothing will be left. They also know it.
