In 2015, Ethel Cain has listed Lana as a favorite artist of hers on an old Deviantart page

In 2017, Ethel Cain uploaded a cover of Born To Die to the Internet that she later tried to scrub. Also this year, she posted a cover of Mariners Apartment Complex.

In 2018, Ethel made this post on CuriousCat referencing Lana and later apologized for her controversial posts on this platform.

By 2020, Ethel seemingly switched on Lana and began her tyrant of shady posts and comments against her. Mostly when compared to her and her music.

On July 8th 2022, Lana posted a photo with her then boyfriend Jack Donoghue at a Chicago prison and Ethel Cain responded with a shady (soon deleted) post which Lana has referenced in the snippet of the song posted last night.

Also in 2022, Cain has vandalized her own Wikipedia page on numerous occasions specifically removing Lana from her wiki page. She was called out by her fans and the account stopped being active in 2023

Lana was **allegedly** made aware of this through Jack Donoghue who was friends with Ethel Cain. Lana reacted to this information by recording a diss track that we all know now as ‘All About Ethel’ This is a play on a film by a similar name called ‘All About Eve’

In 2023, Lana worked a shift at The Waffle House which is now speculated to be shade towards Ethel’s interview headline. Probably intended to make Ethel the second most famous girl at the waffle house… 😭 Lana directly mentions this headline in the snippet posted.

In 2025, Lana released a snippet of the song which is confirmed to be track 13 on her upcoming album. After posting the snippet on Instagram, Lana has blocked Ethel on Instagram.

@cerysuv Im just posting her public comments on Lana, nothing wrong with not wanting to be compared to someone but it has always been met with hostility. It’s also just about public perception and fans have noticed her feelings towards Lana since pretty early on.
