If the conclusion of this book comes to the Latin definition which comes out to be Original Guilt, this book is already a failure and needs to be rejected.

@KingMic92357513 How are you defining "original guilt?"

@BrotherAugusti2 Sinners by birth. We are guilty of the Sin of Adam and by birth we are made sinners. We sinned in Adam leading to the inheritance of both the consequences and a form of guilt. We are guilty of his sin, not a personal fault committed by any individual themselves, but "contracted"

@BrotherAugusti2 As the OCA puts it, "With regard to original sin, the difference between Orthodox Christianity and the West may be outlined as follows: In the Orthodox Faith, the term “original sin” refers to the “first” sin of Adam and Eve. As a result of this sin, humanity bears the

@KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 The Pelagians literally argued this against St. Augustine. Guess whose side we took tho? We took Augustine’s because Chrysostom never denies the inheritance of sin proper from Adam.

@ruckusofantioch @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Against cassian? As in St. John Cassian the roman?

@Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Yes. It seems he “strawmanned” Cassian’s position. But semi Pelagianism is nevertheless a heresy and St Prosper is correct to say this

@ruckusofantioch @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 I did not know St. John Cassian was a semi-pelagian along with St. Vincent of Lerins. Unfortunate times for Gaulic monks

@Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 St. Vincent’s followers are accused of it not St. Vincent himself IIRC. St. Prosper accuses St. John Cassian of semi-Pelagianism albeit many argue his critique is a strawman of Cassian. Nevertheless the position Prosper criticizes is heretical (semi-Pelagianism)

@ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 A certain Vincent, not St Vincent of Lerins, wrote a semipelagian book which St Prosper refuted. However, some scholars attributed it to St Vincent wrongly. In the case of St John Cassian, his Conference XIII was semipelagian and censored by Pope St Gelasius iirc

@EpicSans020 @ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Can you define what you mean by semi pelagian?

@Acolyte83349490 @ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 St Prosper defines semipelagianism as this: even if the grace of God is necessary for the perseverance of the gifts of the Spirit, the good works and godly will, human free will is capable of driving him to seek this faith and grace without the aid of Divine grace.

@EpicSans020 @ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Ah, so you think God causes people to have faith? Is that correct?

@Acolyte83349490 @EpicSans020 @ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Faith is a gift from God. «For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake.» (Philippians 1:29)

@Falango1993 @EpicSans020 @ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Already asked and answered. This does not entail predestinarianism.

@Acolyte83349490 @EpicSans020 @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Seems to be what the Scriptures say Ephesians 2:8-9

@ruckusofantioch @EpicSans020 @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 And do you mean to say that you interpret Eph 2 in the sense of monergistic regeneration, namely that regeneration caused by God precedes the human act of faith?

@Acolyte83349490 @ruckusofantioch @Gedeon_Optinius @KingMic92357513 @BrotherAugusti2 Yes, I do, as Sts Prosper and Augustine taught. God's grace makes the unwilling willing, and to the infidel and stubborn gives faith.
