This is fantastic: ChatGPT just shipped the exact memory feature I've always wanted - automatic memory that's scoped to a specific project https://simonwillison.net/2025...

@simonw Does this mean all prior chats are remembered by default?

@tomcoady That's been the case for a while

@simonw This is going to cause more issues than solving. I have had it give me old bullshit solutions which were rejected using 'memory'.

@harivaayuguru That's why I'm keen to limit memory to individual projects rather then have it leak across my entire account

@simonw That's pretty neat. Does Claude offer something similar?

@ExperienceHe Not yet but I really hope they imitate this

@simonw true team players know it's all about the setupproject memory is a game changer for managing tasks and context without losing your mind

@simonw Project-level memory useful

@simonw We have this since the beginning of @trywindow the portable AI memory, each space has it's own contained memory, and you can even you use it across models

@simonw but it requires the memory to be turned on outside projects too :(

@simonw yeah but it requires personal memory feature being on..I'll pass

@simonw Hmm, I don't see this setting.

@simonw This was also my main concern with ChatGPT memory. Hopefully, this will make it more useful.

@simonw This is excellent. I wish there was a way to remove individual prompts and results too!

@simonw My knowledge manager's take on this v Letta was quite an interesting industry take.

@simonw Scoped memory changes everything. Consider the possibilities for streamlined workflows and boosted productivity.

@simonw Excellent, I shall be utilising this feature today.

@simonw Praise Be!

@simonw Finally

@simonw Ha, I just assumed that’s always how it worked!

@simonw This is great! I wish there is an easy way to re-process all existing conversations into projects.

@simonw Amazing, but also annoying you have to turn on memory for all other chats to get it though..

@simonw Bet it isn’t retrospective.

@simonw This is amazing and very useful!

@simonw About damn time

@simonw @inafried Oh I’ve needed this.

@simonw Finally! I had some really good responses today in the project around my home tech setup. Maybe it was already out. Either way this was a glaring must have.

@simonw @AnthropicAI can we please get this in Claude + ability to sync to a folder / somehow incorporate memories from Claude code sessions or artifacts?

@simonw project memory is a game changer. no more context loss mid-conversation
