CASTING THE F1 MUSICAL! musical roles i'd assign to f1 drivers โ a thread ๐งต
MAX VERSTAPPEN โ William Barfee from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee tell me this motherfucker with his lisp, general nerd, erm actually attitude, and competitive spirit would kill as william barfee. also i can imagine him doing the magic foot routine.
YUKI TSUNODA โ Audrey 2 from Little Shop of Horrors u need to trust the vision here. i think he has the comedic timing and general threatening aura to play a man-eating alien plant. he's judgmental and cool enough to make it work. trust me.
LEWIS HAMILTON โ Jesus from Jesus Christ Superstar listen. i think this is self-explanatory. i think he has enough aura and impressiveness as a figure to pull this off, and i think he could just embody the complexity of the script well. also gethsemane is a lh44 song in my eyes.
CHARLES LECLERC โ Dot / Marie from Sunday in the Park with George i think a sondheim musical is good for charles vibe, and dot is a good fit for her complexity and arc. i think charles embodies the desperation to be wanted that dot has. everybody loves louis is a cl16 song.
OSCAR PIASTRI โ Eurydice from Hadestown do i think oscar has the emotional depth for eurydice? maybe... but mostly i think oscar's comedic timing and ability to be blunt and sardonic, while still charming and kind at heart, works with eurydice's character & arc. i have faith.
LANDO NORRIS โ Jenna from Waitress the only issue with jenna is that jenna is, crucially, pregnant, but i think lando could make it work. i just think jenna's nervous, awkward charm, her anxiety, and her persistence through awful times could all be really well shown by lando.
MCLAREN HONORABLE MENTION i didn't want to make it into pairings, and am trying to do diff musicals, but i do think lando could play orpheus well, and oscar could be cast as dr. pomatter. so. that too.
GEORGE RUSSELL โ Sally Bowles from Cabaret george was very difficult to cast, as there's a lot of roles that's feel vaguely like him, but i think the manic and depressed energy of sally, contrasted with her bubbly, innocent charm works for george. also, she's notably british.
KIMI ANTONELLI โ Gabe Goodman from Next to Normal i need everyone to listen to jack wolfe's work as gabe and then come back to me and TRY to tell me kimi wouldn't fit that role perfectly. he's youthful and mischievous and has potential for great evil, but is innocent still. yea.
ALEX ALBON โ Emmett Forest from Legally Blonde charming, awkward, with a sarcastic, sharp sort of humor, i genuinely think alex would be perfect in this role. i think he has the perfect timing, expressions, and intonation to play a deeply likable and fun emmett. peak theater.
CARLOS SAINZ โ Billy Flynn from Chicago he has the perfect amount of 1920s corrupt lawyer energy, and i think he's just the right amount of doe-eyed and convincingly charming to play the perfect billy. he can play faux-innocent well, and i have faith in him in this role.
ESTEBAN OCON โ Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors tall, nerdy, well-intentioned guy who would absolutely accidentally raise a bloodthirsty plant alien. he's just so endearing and hesitant in ways that are so seymour, and the dynamic between yuki and esteban would be fire.
OLLIE BEARMAN โ Mischa Bachinski from Ride The Cyclone it's just a fun role, to be honest with you. ollie has the high, fun, weird energy required for the role, and i also think he has the capability for the more serious aspects. he could double as ricky potts, also from RTC.
LIAM LAWSON โ Orpheus from Hadestown guys, he plays the guitar. it's literally liam. disconnected from oscar as eurydice, i think liam is capable of the sort of desperate, mildly stupid yearning behaviors that orpheus exhibits, and he's funny and endearing in similar ways.
ISACK HADJAR โ Lydia from Beetlejuice this was such a hard casting, like ollie, but i think it works. lydia is weird, darkly funny, and emotionally complex, and i think isack's humor fits her well, as well as his way of expressing certain emotions fitting in with her character.
GABRIEL BORTOLETO โ Roxie Hart from Chicago messy, flirtatious, and incredibly charming with a sense of faux innocence and naivete about him, i think gabriel and roxie are an incredibly perfect match. i fuck with this concept heavy.
NICO HULKENBERG โ Meyer Wolfsheim from Gatsby: An American Myth this is NOT the disgrace that is the broadway gatsby, this is from the better one. meyer has just about one of the best songs in the musical, and his threatening vibe mixed with darkly funny humor works for nico.
PIERRE GASLY โ Marvin from Falsettos egotistical, self-absorbed character, but also deeply funny, likable, and understandable character, with fun scenes, dialogue, and moments. pierre could easily play both sides of the character, fitting well into the themes of the musical.
FRANCO COLAPINTO โ Natasha Bolshova from The Great Comet wide-eyed and innocent, young and deeply in love, natasha's beauty and youth, as well as her tendency towards irresponsible and societally strange romantic decisions match franco quite well.
FERNANDO ALONSO โ Hades from Hadestown fernando would play a great meyer or billy too, but hades is by far the best role for him. intimidating, manipulative, and incredibly secretive and mysterious, as well as powerful, hades is a character fernando seems to embody regularly.
YAYYYYY THREAD OVER !!!! this was fun ๐โโ๏ธ
