1991-1994: Brady and Macari 3 years of regression whilst Rangers kicked on and with the club on the brink of going under until Fergus saved us Some will shudder at some of those names but we almost spent more in 1991/92 than we have in 2025 without inflation even required

1994-1997: Tommy Burns The Celtic Way of football and finally a trophy came back under Burns and the new McCann era whilst names like Pierre, Thom, Stubbs and Di Canio arrived 3 windows that saw us spend more those years than we have now without even having to use inflation

1997-2000: Wim, Dr Jo and Barnes The 10 was stopped. That was all that mattered before 2 years with only 1 League Cup under interim Kenny Dalglish 2 seasons of £10m+ spent and players who became fundamental in future success like Larsson/Lubo/Petrov/Mjallby/Lambert arrived

2000-2002: MON (pre-transfer window) He did everything he possibly could to bring success to the football club; funny how money on transfers can do that Nearly £30m in 2 seasons and big money signings such as Sutton/Hartson/Lennon became club legends and won trophies galore

2002-2005: MON (transfer window) 2002 saw the introduction of the transfer window system we know now so will only use summer signings to judge this Minor additions added to the core that wasn’t sold on and trophies as well as a European final run coincided with this

2005-09: Gordon Strachan We might not have been spending £6m on a signing alone but heavy (and early) summer recruitment saw us win 3 in a row, 3 cups and reach the UCL knockout rounds TWICE Average summer windows of £7m+ and early business apparently brings success… who knew

2009-2012: Mowbray, Lennon and Bye Bye Rangers Tony Mowbray’s tenure was short and definitely not sweet but Neil Lennon’s spell of “buying cheap/selling big” still saw a summer outlay of nearly £10m in his first season alone But, the league and priorities was about to change

2012-2014: Lennon with no Rangers The death of Rangers allowed full focus on the Champions League where we reached the groups TWICE as well as get to the last 16 The first window saw us add to the core of what we had before a £10m+ window the season after

2014-16: Ronny Deila He loves a fist pump, a roar but not good signings Knocked out the UCL TWICE in one season with only one permanent signing to speak of in 2014 before a £7m+ window of waste including Ciftci, Allan and Janko saw no UCL football during his entire tenure

2016-2019: Brendan Rodgers Rangers got promoted and Celtic allowed him to break the transfer record, sign known quality such as Sinclair and unearth gems like Dembele and Ntcham Steps were taken in Europe but backing Eddy with frees like Mulumbu means you don’t get past AEK

2019-2021: Neil Lennon and COVID A decent window in 2019 saw us have our best ever points tally in a European group stage and on course for the Treble again The board are blamed for a lot during the COVID season but they did back the manager and not let any key assets go

2021-2023: Ange Postecoglou One of the most exciting brands of football ever at Celtic Park saw a summer overhaul of near £20m backed up with another window of near £20m Some positive European performances and 5/6 trophies saw success and the fans after COVID back at Celtic

2023-2025: Brendan Rodgers The first summer window was shocking but season 2 saw £30m+ spent and Celtic return back to the Champions League knockout stages With this success and money in the back, surely Celtic would back their manager even more to build on this success right…

2025-26: Sack the board And so we get to this window now, with key players not replaced as far back as January and the least amount spent in a summer window for 8 seasons (even if you want to add this £5m for Balikwisha) This board is not fit for purpose and heads must roll

@Kieran_Sellick Martin oneills recruitments and monumental wages rises changed the club for a few years , Strachan had to cut back , Mowbray was left with scraps to build again , Deila and Lennon had same idea built on John park’s recruitment, It all comes back to 3 year cycle .

@Kieran_Sellick When you look way back most of the players were signed to go directly into the first team ( and yes there were plenty 💩ones) look at the number in the last few years bought and hardly got into the team or didn't even get on the park , plus all the decent kids leaving.
