1. Out of possession and Man to man press. Gyokeres was good debuting as the press trigger + we won our duels M2M all over the pitch~ denied access to Liverpool pocket players (first half). — Arsenal limited Liverpool to 2 touches in our box and only 38 touches in our half. -

2. Individual performances. — Calafiori was UNREAL. Won pretty much every 1v1 duel. — Mosquera bullied Ekitike,he tried to pull towards Mosquera but got dominated 9/10 times physically. — Rice and Zubi played well btw. OOP very good and on the ball found that balance. - Noni

3. We wasted SOO many transitions and dangerous territory gained (the ghost of Old Trafford MD1 returned). I have compiled a video of EVERY transition/ dangerous territory we had…imagine if we had more connection up top, Liverpool would have been toast. Very positive signs.

4. Gyokeres proactive…. Biggest thing i found in my rewatch is how static Gyokeres was. Unable to read space so he could receive from midfielders and defenders. 2nd half we punched more balls into him but he was still reactive rather than proactive to them balls into feet and

5. How the game was Lost. Pretty much no surprise Liverpool do have quality~ Curtis Jones found more pockets when he came on freeing up space for Wirtz the other side of Zubi/Rice. Also think we tired so unable to close those spaces as quick as in the first half. Goal came

@TMtalksball Great thread, and great point about Gyökeres’ proactiveness. Many have said his runs were ignored, and at times that was true, but there were also numerous instances of him being marshalled too easily by their centre backs and not looking after it well enough.

@adamkeys_ Thanks again Adam, it is a concern for him to be so poor on the ball protecting it. My hope lies in Arteta being one of the best coaches in shielding/ball protection.

@TMtalksball Those are some really good observations. It could have been a narrow win for Arsenal as well. Margins were really fine.

@TMtalksball I thought Merino, Zubi and Rice were incredible in the press. That formation with Saka on the right and Madueke on the left, would be a huge problem for teams. Best press we have displayed in over two years.

@TMtalksball I do feel its not right to put Merino as AM before the game start. But turns out, he actually NEED to put as AM. And surprisingly, I dont want to sub him off. Gyokeres, I think he prefer more on behind-defenses. If he attack those spaces you mentioned, he cant exploit that.

@TMtalksball Great thread! I rewatched it too. I'm at a loss why Arteta took off Madueke, who was our best and most lively attacker, and put on 15-year-old Dowman. We needed Eze and Madueke playing together when we needed a goal. Strange.

@TMtalksball Arsenal needs to be ruthless in front of goal. Like be a menace like our defenders are to opposition attacks. This squad is equipped to do so much more. Liverpool conceded 4 goals in their last 2 matches and Arsenal couldn't even score 1. Good thread👍

@TMtalksball I was initially unhappy with Merino’s inclusion. On rewatch I think a Merino/Rice pivot with a 10 would have given us so much more going forward, and enough to keep them out. Newcastle (w/ 10 men) Bournemouth (should have been 4/5) both scored twice. Horrid set up.
