Reading piece: The time Erling Haaland almost ended up at Bayern München.
It's Sunday, March 7 2021, when, as so often, Raiolas phone rings. The agent recognizes the number and picks up the call. "We need to talk!" says Hasan Salihamidžić to open the conversation. It's been less than 24 hours since Erling Haaland & Dortmund lost 4–2 to Bayern Munich.
Raiola listens carefully to what Salihamidžić has to say. Haaland would visit him at his home. Raiola has given Haaland exact directions. They go like this: Salihamidžić’s property in the Munich district of Harlaching has two gates.
If he drives up to the one on the right, he should notify Bayern’s sporting director. The gate would be opened, and he could drive straight into the garage. Through a connecting door, he could enter the villa without being seen.
Shortly after, Haaland is standing in front of Salihamidžić. "I like the house. I’d like to have it," he says to the Bayern boss — and then adds: "But for free!" The cheeky comment breaks the ice. Haaland is impressed by how Bayern’s leadership operates as a team.
He is told that he is the key player for Bayern’s sporting future. To sign him, the club would stretch its finances more than ever before in its history. The words were meant to make an impression — & they did.
Then Raiola picks up the phone. He tells Salihamidžić: "You’ve convinced the boy! Now we need to talk about money." The agent gives him a tough task. Salihamidžić informs Raiola that he needs to consult with the SB in Munich. He could never make a decision like that on his own.
A few weeks later, Bayern gets back to Raiola: they’ve prepared an offer. Raiola boards a Learjet and flies to Munich for the negotiations. The agent lets the Bayern delegation know that the Haaland family is genuinely interested. Then he listens to what Salihamidžić has to say.
While Bayern can’t match the high salaries offered by Premier League clubs, they assure the Haaland’s that they would get a big percentage of a potential future record-sale of the player.
The agent isn't only holding talks with Bayern. Together with father Alfie, he's traveling across half of Europe to listen to the offers from various clubs.
Raiola calls FC Bayern: “The transfer won’t happen. What I can tell you is this: You were at the top in terms of sporting reasons for a long time. You had the best arguments. But financially, you’ve been outbid.” [The End]
@Complaxes Once upon a time, when our club still had ambitions.
@Complaxes Damals vs heute
@Complaxes It's from Falk. 😂😂
@Complaxes Das wäre so ein unnötiger Transfer damals gewesen, da Lewy noch da war und auf Ballon Dor Niveau gespielt hat

🚨🗣️ Nick Woltemade when asked who were the best players he ever played against : "Centre-backs for sure : Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano !" ❤️🤍
Wearing Jamal’s Shirt
