After meeting fans, someone asked Ludwig: “Could you make it on Twitch if you started over?” He said yes… then realized his biggest strength was bouncing off chat. So he created RetiredAthlete31. Goal: get 1 follower + 1 chatter.

Goes live in Just Chatting. Practices by talking to “fake chat.” 5 minutes in → first follower! But it was a bot. Real followers vs bots feel very different.

30+ minutes streaming. 0 real viewers. Only himself watching on two accounts. Played Wordle alone. His words: “I’m nothing without chat.” (jokingly...kinda) The loneliness was brutal.

Why Twitch discovery fails: • Just Chatting = too saturated • No one scrolls to 0-viewer streams • Even niche games barely help Result: hours of streaming → literally nobody.

“Now I understand why people use viewbots.” The logic: Viewbots → higher placement Higher placement → more visibility More visibility → real viewers The rich get richer.

To lift energy, Ludwig ate a hot dog as fast as possible. Joey Chestnut parody style. It was the most entertaining part of the whole stream. Light bulb: If starting over, he’d do 30–45 min stunt streams + clip them for TikTok/IG/YouTube.

2.5 hours in: “This feels like hell. I miss my chat.” Then he switched to One Piece card openings. Added “!giveaway” in the title. (There was no giveaway.) Finally → first real chatter Then another: Oscar.

Oscar explained why he streams: “I love gaming and want to inspire others.” That single interaction changed everything. The difference between 0 and 1 viewer? Astronomical.

After 5 hours to get 1 chatter, here's what Ludwig learned: • Twitch grinding from 0 is a waste of time • Create 1 strong moment → clip it → spread it • Early community members are EVERYTHING “Without you guys, my job would be hell.”

The strategy if you’re starting Twitch from 0: 1. Stream one entertaining segment 2. Clip the best moments 3. Post clips everywhere 4. Drive traffic back to Twitch 5. Turn your first chatter into your biggest fan

If you’re grinding Twitch from 0 viewers, this is your wake-up call. Stop streaming to nobody. Start clipping your best moments. Build your first 1–2 viewers into a community. RT to save another creator from burning out 🔄

@LoyalVonJoni I think the advice he gave is perfect for YouTube streaming as well. Clip farm a stream and post to shorts - since it's all on YouTube, it's easier for audiences to migrate to your stream!

@vidIQ Twitch is probably spending millions trying to fight bots. If they created any level of discovery algorithm, 99% of your bots would dissapear 🤣🤣. It's a self-created problem, Twitch is designed to encourage bots, not infested by them.

@vidIQ I noticed this myself when I was streaming. It's all true. I won't say I stopped streaming solely because of this. (More because I wanted to focus on YouTube.) But it was a bit of a factor. I've thought about returning to streaming, but I'm not sure I want to just yet.

@vidIQ TLDR: pay $500 to view bot and place ads. Don’t bother doing anything organically. Because social media is a compete fraud until you’ve made it
