Hey @ProtonPrivacy, why are you cancelling journalists and ghosting us. Need help calibrating your moral compass❓ First therapy session is for free 😘 Regarding #article class="text-blue-500 hover:underline" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">https://phrack.org/issues/72/7...
@phrack We're not ghosting you. We were alerted by a CERT that certain accounts were being misused by hackers in violation of Proton’s Terms of Service. This led to a cluster of accounts being disabled. Our team is now reviewing these cases individually to determine if any can be
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy love their service but this is extremely not cool
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy @ProtonPrivacy @ProtonMail care to explain?
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy I would rather have them block my account immediately than to secretly log all my data and send it to a government like South Korea. Instantly kill the fire.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy This is very upsetting, I have used @ProtonMail @ProtonVPN and other Proton internet based services for many years. Have also recommended dozens if not hundreds of people pay for their services as well. Looks like it is time to find another VPN & eMail service 😞 #FuckProton
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy regardless of whether or not you trust proton they are pretty clear on complying with government regulation/requests. proton is not uncooperative with governments, oftentimes it's the opposite. they just don't have any of your data to give that would be of value with basic opsec
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy @ProtonMail care to explain ?
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy If this is true, shame on you @ProtonPrivacy

@phrack @ProtonPrivacy I guess - don't use ProtonMail for ANY whistle-blowing activity. Perhaps @ProtonPrivacy has some further input on this....please?
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain @ProtonPrivacy
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy If we care about #privacy we should not using any email provider.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy they could end up in a situation where more users were at risk. they only suspended the account, didn't dump it to the authorities? also i always think the products promoted for these target audiences in the media could be just traps. you are much safer with self hosting.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy You need to address this @ProtonPrivacy . I'm not going to continue using your service, or suggest it to others otherwise.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy If they're still based in Switzerland a local judge can demand action on behalf of a foreign government. I'm not aware of a jurisdiction with better safeguards. @TutaPrivacy doesn't seem to have these issues though.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy The moral of the story: It's very, very hard to get privacy from a legally registered company since it owes compliance to a government. They are part of the surveillance apparatus, no matter if they want it or not.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy Unfortunate. I was in the midst of researching services to replace my remaining Google ones, and they were the leader. Seems I'll need to pull them from the list. Such a shame, @ProtonPrivacy. You tout something that you don't back up with your actions.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy @andyyen oh, some clarity here would be nice!
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy Time to quite Proton. Who in the privacy space is legit, anons?
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy This looks so bad. Hope @ProtonPrivacy can clarify this situation soon
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy that CIA subsidiary you mean?
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy Y'all have already forgotten where Proton Warrant Canary went? They glow brighter than the sun.
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy idiots
@phrack @ProtonPrivacy When platforms built on ‘privacy’ start silencing voices, it raises serious questions. True privacy means freedom, not selective control. Tools should protect data, not decide who deserves protection. With privacy-first chains like Secret Network, they don’t silence, they
