Target descends slowly with the force of gravity as lighter fragments trail down from above it. Missile is slightly deflected and falls on its own trajectory. Apparent movement is from the p-word.

Fragments of the object came off and continued to travel with the object mass. It's like a bizarre, self propelled, possibly magnetic, ferrofluid

Also the missle flies straight to the object; not meeting it at a certain point or trailing. The debris are falling downward stationarry
