On September 2, Solana’s community agreed on a proposal called SIMD-0326, better known as Alpenglow. This isn’t just a routine change. It’s the biggest leap forward in Solana’s speed and efficiency so far.

The Alpenglow core upgrade has slashed Solana’s block confirmation time to just 150 milliseconds. That’s actually quicker than the time it takes for a Google search to load. For users, this means DApps will respond almost instantly, and transaction finality will feel seamless.

Nearly the entire network backed it, with 98.94% voting in favor. Some institutions are already calling this the most important upgrade in Solana’s history. And it’s not just talk - this upgrade makes Solana the fastest Layer-1 blockchain in the world.

MEXC’s chief analyst, Shawn Yang, put it bluntly: “Solana will move faster than every other L1… and even beat traditional web speeds.” He believes $SOL could climb to $250–$300 this cycle. And speed is only one part of the bigger picture.

Big institutions aren’t looking at $SOL as just another trade anymore. They’re building positions in it the way you’d invest in core infrastructure. Public companies already hold more than $1.7 billion worth of Solana.
