@oscarle_x The G1 is fast becoming the defacto research platform for humanoids. Optimus seems to be on a solid path tho too. Think they were being very cautious with that demo since it was around other bystanders.

@netconstructor I would imagine this is not the first, nor only, G1 this lab has. I wish we could much more easily acquire spare parts for the G1s. I suspect tho if you're in China like they are, access to spare parts is much easier than here in the USA.

@Sentdex What the hell. The actuators in that thing are fast and ridiculously powerful. Must be expensive as hell.

@DeAiDave apx $40K-50K USD, can be more or less depending on a few factors. But yes, the actuators are exceptionally strong and capable of very fast movement.

@mcnultydigital based on my experience with the G1 in my home, this isn't a fake video and is 100% possible. The G1 hardware is very capable.

@Sentdex Why do so many marketing videos from these companies feature the robots being assaulted / beaten? Do the marketing folks think we’re going to buy them to just try to kick their asses all day?

@Sentdex Really shows the missing piece was AI. If we didn't have that, they'd still be doing rudimentary tasks. The effects of AI will be felt for years. Also seems like the technological timeline is accelerating, and very possibly in tandem with first contact. Sad no Boston Dynamics.
