@mitchellh The problem though is that modern hiring techniques used in tech toss these candidates out right at the beginning before any actual person can see the application because their resumes aren't full of buzzwords.

@joshmanders Hashicorp at one point reached a point where we'd open a SWE position and we'd get ~350 applications in a day. You need some sort of system to prune that. It's unreasonable to manually go through everything. No system is perfect though, so you're going to lose out on good ones at

@faizan10114 The example guy I hired's past company didn't use GitHub, so no, not even private activity.

@mitchellh What makes them as the best? Do they make big impact?

@xtbot They do really good work, they're diligent, they don't care about optimizing for "cool", they don't chase any trends, they're usually very reasonable when it comes to roadmaps, etc.
