got in a car crash, i’m ok alhamdulillah. a comrade took me to urgent care, another recommended a mechanic, another dropped off food. i’m so grateful to be amongst comrades who show up for each other, who truly demonstrate willingness. i wouldn’t have or be anything without them.
we must be willing to show up for each other. we must be able to rely on each other. especially when it’s difficult or awkward. we owe it to each other, to ourselves. we only have each other.
when i had covid a few weeks ago (i’m having a pretty scuffed time lately, huh?), comrades dropped off medication, tests, other supplies, talked to me and kept me sane.
that desire to be entirely self-reliant has always been difficult for me to combat. my comrades have guided me through that, whether or not they realize it. they’ve shown me that i am allowed to need support, that i am allowed to ask for support, because they will show up for me.
