Salah: Still worth the premium? Salah has been one of the most reliable FPL assets over the years, but the conversation this season feels different. His xGI is just 0.4 per 90, ranking a surprising 19th in the league after 4 games. Arne Slot is trying to build Liverpool into
a super team & to do that, he has redistributed the goals away from Salah and across the squad. With him ageing, it feels like the right and more sustainable solution ,but it also means Salah is no longer the undisputed main man. Once Isak is a regular starter and Wirtz settles
into form, the goals will be even more evenly spread across the attack. At 14.5m, do we really want to pay for an asset who will not continue to be the focal point of this team? If you own Salah, heās a hold for this GW (best captaincy option, sell after this GW).
And if you donāt, thereās little reason to buy him right now. The smarter route is Haaland , Cityās next 5 fixtures are stronger, and thereās simply no reliable alternative in the City squad to cover his output.
Best Wirtz Replacements Despite being the 9th most owned midfielder in the game (18.0%), Wirtz has failed to return a goal or assist in the first four GWs & the patience is running out amongst FPL managers. Hereās who we think are good options if you decide to get rid of Wirtz:
Topping our list is Semenyo. While GW5 presents a tricky game vs NEW, the fixtures after that are promising. At a price of 7.5m, he is a solid option who has no xMins risk. On penalties as well, heāll be keen to add to the 5 G+A he already has this season, from an xGI of 2.88
Despite getting three blanks in a row, weād still back Kudus who is priced at 6.6m. With Spurs having three good fixtures coming up, weāre sure that heāll add to his numbers in terms of chance creation which is Top amongst Spurs players and Top 7 in the PL, so far.
A slightly more unpredictable option would be Mbeumo. With better fixtures on the horizon, Man Unitedās new signing at 8.1m, will be expected to better his output of just 1 goal from an xGI of 2.95 so far. His minutes are guaranteed & his underlying ICT metrics are top notch too
Itās Spurs Time Thomas Frank has quickly tightened Spurs up, making them compact at the back while adding structure in attack. Early signs show a side that can grind results and exploit fixtures. Clean sheets + creative mids make Spurs assets far more reliable now.
Their next five fixtures are ones to target: Brighton (A), Wolves(H), Leeds(A), Aston Villa (H), Everton (A) So far: - ā Goals Scored: 8 - ā Goals Conceded: 1 The key FPL assets to consider from them are:
Van de Ven Not just a clean sheet pick , VDV has carried real attacking threat and racks up DEFCON points too. With 3 of Spursā next 5 against bottom-six xG teams, he looks like a high-value defensive asset who can deliver at both ends of the pitch.
Kudus Now nailed for that RW spot, Kudus combines dribbling, direct goal threat & creativity. Spursā next 5 fixtures are strong, giving him the perfect runway to deliver consistent attacking returns. A mid-priced pick with real upside.
Xavi Simons A real differential, slotted straight into the Spurs XI and already on set pieces. Marked his debut with an assist, and his track record shows he can deliver both goals and assists
The Alternatives to Watkins After a series of four blanks in a row, where Watkins and his team havenāt scored a PL goal, itās fair to assume that people have lost faith in the striker & if youāre one such FPL manager, then here are some alternatives you can consider:
The most owned player in the game, Joao Pedro is our first choice. Without a blank in his last 3 games, heās come out in flying colours after his switch to Chelsea. With only a tricky game vs LIV in GW7, he could take advantage of Chelseaās great start & continue to make merry!
Owned by just 2.7% FPL managers, Evanilson is another one to watch out for, after back-to-back returns. BOU are one of PLās most in-form sides and their fixtures apart from GW5 vs NEW, look very promising for the Brazilian to build up his G+A tally, which stands at 2 right now.
Despite a fixture vs LIV in GW6, Mateta has some good fixtures to improve on his record for an unbeaten Crystal Palace team. He only has 1 goal from an xGI of 2.95, but facing a weaker WHU defence in GW5 & the return of Sarr in time for GW6, should help his cause, massively.
Top Differentials for the next 5 GWs With the early fixtures out of the way, some early trends have started to appear and to help your quest to climb up the ranks, here are some top differentials you could consider:
Senesi is already on 4BPs and has registered DEFCON returns in every game so far. Bournemouth rank top 4 for xGC, fixtures ahead look kind, and with ownership at just 9.3%, Senesi is a low-key gem offering clean sheet + DEFCON potential.
Spurs have conceded just 1 goal in 5 games across all comps, and 3 of the next 4 are vs bottom-six xG sides. At only 6.2% ownership, Romero offers clean sheet potential and carries attacking threat as well, 6 goals across the last 2 PL seasons.
Straight into Spursā XI and already on set pieces, Simons marked his debut with an assist. His past record of both goals & assists makes him a high-ceiling differential (2.6% ownership), and at his price, he could be one of the breakout mids of this season.
A goal & an assist in his last 2, Evanilson is finding form in an Iraola side thatās functioning well. With xMins secured, kind fixtures ahead, and ownership at just 2.7%, heās an option if you are looking for a forward differential
Bruno: Keep or Sell? Bruno sits top 4 for xGI in the league, which tells us the underlying numbers are still strong despite the eye test suggesting otherwise. Add to that penalties, set-pieces, and corners , he remains central to every type of United chance creation.
When United struggle, Bruno has often been the one to bail them out, either through penalties, long-range efforts, or crucial assists. Importantly, United as a team still rank top 2 for xG and top 9 for big chances , so the goals will come & Bruno is likely to be at the heart of
them. Heās nailed, has multiple routes to points, and fixtures improve over the medium to long term. Unless youāre desperate for short-term punts, the logical play is to hold Bruno and trust the numbers to eventually translate into returns.
