Q) Why is saving a transfer important this week? This looks like a “calm before the storm” Gameweek. Even if your start has been frustrating, patience now sets you up perfectly for the fixture swings just around the corner.
Gameweek 6 is the turning point 🔑 -City host Burnley → Haaland (red-hot & clear captain) -Palmer returns → great rotation for captaincy with Haaland without Salah -Liverpool fixtures stiffen → time to potentially switch from a Salah structure to a Haaland one
Like last season’s Haaland → Salah swing, timing changes everything. Rolling your transfer this week = more flexibility and rank-changing moves when it really matters. Arsenal’s dream run begins GW7 as well, so another reason to WC next week.
Q) Is this week a good week to Wildcard? 🤔 The temptation is real if you’ve had a slow start or injuries. But with City vs Arsenal likely to be cagey, the immediate payoff from using the chip feels limited.
Most squads are also stacked with Liverpool assets. Offloading them before a home game vs Everton isn’t ideal. Better to hold for now - the big fixture swings are just around the corner.
Q) Who should consider a Wildcard in GW6? Managers with Salah-centric teams may need to shift structure towards Haaland. In my own draft, WC6 would mean 10–11 changes, so it really depends on your squad.
If you’re already set with Haaland and your team looks solid, holding off until GW13 could be smarter. Fixture swings arrive then, plus you’ll have clarity on potential blanks/doubles in GW16/17.
Q) Wouldn't triple captain Haaland (BUR) be better than WCing in GW6? TC Haaland is a great shout if your squad is already in good shape. But… chip priority matters - and a Wildcard carries far more long-term power if your team needs fixing.
Remember: there will be other TC chances later 🔑 Fixtures like Salah vs Sunderland look just as appealing & there is a chance of a double GW later too. So if your squad is weak, WC > TC. If it’s solid, TC Haaland is perfectly fine.
Q) FH6 vs WC6? It depends on your squad. If you’ll still be happy with your team in GW7, FH6 is a strong play. But if you’re carrying injuries or too much deadwood, the Wildcard is the better long-term move.
Q) Is Bench Boost in GW5 an option? If it takes major surgery to reach 15 starters, it’s better to wait. With 5 free transfers coming during AFCON, you’ll get a natural chance later to restructure for a BB without hits.
But if your squad is already healthy and just one move gets you 15 starters, GW5 BB makes sense âś… You can then Wildcard later without overinvesting in the bench. GW8 also looks tempting, but it lands right after an international break which is always risky.
Q) Wirtz/Watkins - sell or keep? Both are yet to register an attacking return this season but have a favourable fixture this week. I'd recommend saving - surely there are better transfers to make later down the line.
Q) Wood/Mateta - sell or keep? Both have disappointed in recent weeks but again it would be ill-advised to sell either before games against Burnley and West Ham.
Q) Ekitike - sell or keep? His xMins are getting murkier day by day but I feel as if I'd give him the Merseyside derby at least. Simply because there is no obvious alternative to buy and saving a transfer could be super powerful.
Q) Best captain GW5? Salah for me. He hasn’t quite hit top gear in the league yet, but his Champions League goal and assist were encouraging signs. He's top of the anytime goal/assist markets with the bookies as well.

@BigManBakar Do you think taking a hit to get Haaland in GW6 and delaying wildcard until GW8 is worth it? Or just WC6?
@FPL_Ask I'd probably WC6 with a view of accumulating FTs in the weeks later
