⚡️ GW5: Everything you need to know ⚡️ GW5, the calm before the storm of Haaland transfers in and wildcard’s left, right and centre 🇳🇴 With many considering bench boosts and lots of benching headaches, I’m going to break down my thoughts ahead of GW5 👇🏼🧵
🃏 The GW5 Wildcard 🃏 Personally, I think it’s a good idea to wait until GW6 or later, mostly due to the fixtures this week. The way the fixtures have fallen has meant that the teams you might want to target (City, Arsenal, Everton) have tough fixtures this week ❌ City and
The reverse is true also, with players that no one wants on wildcard having nice fixtures this week 🔄 Vila play Sunderland, Forest have Burnley and the now £8.3m Florian Wirtz plays Everton at home - all decent fixtures ⚡️ Unless you’re lining up a GW6 BB, I’d advise waiting
🪑 Should you Bench Boost? 🪑 Most people have a pretty decent bench this week, so a lot of people (myself included) are thinking about the possibility of a bench boost 🔋 I don’t agree with the idea you should just ‘get the bench boost’ out the way - but I do also think
Many have at least one Burnley defender/goalkeeper against Forest at home - a tough fixture to predict 🔮 Burnley were very impressive defensively against Liverpool, and Forest have had a tough start to life under Ange after Swansea mounted a late comeback midweek to beat them
The argument against playing the bench boost is the possibility of properly setting it up post WC, or with the five free transfers in GW16 🪑 You can definitely build a stronger one with more value spread that looks better than most people’s bench boosts this week - but you
©️ GW5 Captaincy ©️ Salah is going to be the most popular pick, especially after his midweek performance, and he is a very strong captaincy pick for the weekend 👑 However, he’s not actually my favourite captain in GW5. If I had him, Cole Palmer would have my armband for GW5
♻️ Transfer Support ♻️ There are plenty of players this week that managers are keen to get rid of, but most of them are absolutely fine to keep this week. Watkins v SUN (A)🟣 Rogers v SUN (A) 🟣 Wood v BUR (A) 🌳 Wirtz v EVE (H) 🔴 Ekitike v EVE (H) 🔴 I’d expect all of these
That said, I do think those players are okay to move on if there’s someone else you want and it fits with your strategy. For example, I moved Wirtz 👉🏼 Semenyo late last night to avoid his price drop - I would’ve been happy to keep the German for another week, and I wouldn’t be
It’s likely to be a week where many people hold transfers, but we could still see some big scores with popular picks having good fixtures and plenty of bench boosts flying around 🔋 What are the big decisons you are facing pre-deadline? Are you planning to use your bench boost
@CharlieVantFPL @FPLGOAT7 Do I start Ndiaye or Gakpo ? Should I consider BB ?
@CharlieVantFPL I Wildcarded this week as i was more concerned about being priced out of the players i wanted for gw6 onwards than just keeping a team with better fixtures this week. Can afford old team to outscore new one for 1 week if it meant jumping on the players everyone else will early
@CharlieVantFPL Do cunha to semenyo & bench richards or roll?
@SafowanCFC Depends on your plan to get haaland in next week, but I think both of those are okay options
@CharlieVantFPL Bit of benching headache this week. This is where I am at the moment.
@CharlieVantFPL I’m alone WC gw5 Is good?
