CEO perspective on H1B I can hire an excellent euro engineer for $100k remotely. Why would I spend $100k to bring one here?
@AvgDatabaseCEO At least they dont bring their spouse and kids and future anchor kids and mom and dad.... you are to dumb. LOL Chain migration, you dumby
@AvgDatabaseCEO @grok how much was the fee before the new increase?
@AvgDatabaseCEO C'est exactement ce que je pensais.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Then why are you chiming in? If you weren’t using H1B, then you situation is irrelevant.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Timezones make managing a team like this hard, but not impossible. It all depends on how clear the work is. Ticket closers can be anywhere with a quick check-in call every few days. Need architecture or creativity? Most companies prefer to be in person for that collaborative
@dataguybobby I’m often in NYC. Europe timezones work well
@AvgDatabaseCEO They won’t even hire Americans remotely. Fuck businesses. Fuck c level executives who hate their employees. Make your own companies, use ai to work faster and harder than these people who hate you can.
@AvgDatabaseCEO This held true even before the tax. If you were open to offshore, it was always way cheaper to hire euro devs then to import h1b indian devs.
@AvgDatabaseCEO So win win? You get cheaper workers and housing market, culture, cleanliness, etc is not affected in USA
@AvgDatabaseCEO You never did bring euros here. They were working remotely. The vast majority brought here were $50k Indians. And half of those are effectively slaves.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Makes sense until you also realize the HIRE Act working its way through the senate right now and will screw up your corporate tax rate if you go that route.
@AvgDatabaseCEO I can provide you excellent engineers from india for $60k per year. Why would companies bring them when off-shore hiring is a thing?
@RamonSicre India timezone can be tough
@AvgDatabaseCEO Yes except they are paying taxes elsewhere
@AvgDatabaseCEO If they know their US co-workers make double money but work similar stuffs, would they request to come US? Especially when they work in team for years. How would you handle such case?
@AvgDatabaseCEO That is exactly what Trump wants that companies should stop bringing people to USA and hire local talent, but sadly as your rightly said, you will still go and find people globally and don't hire people within America. This is where this H1-B Visa 100K scheme is bound to fail.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Until they find a way to tax that too. Burning money to onboard people just to sidestep policy = miserable ROC. Sometimes the highest returns come from reading the memo and playing long, unless they unwind the whole mission.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Security and legal reasons, particularly around IP law since in many cases to work in other country the company has to setup a branch in that country and deal with all of the associated issues. It can be done, but there are a lot of unexpected complications.
@AvgDatabaseCEO You do know H-1B is also for people who just graduated from PhD or Master’s programs in the U.S., right?
@AvgDatabaseCEO 1) if it's the case, tech companies would have adopted it as a primary way of employment, why now? 2) you should really talk to the folks in another thread who are saying salaries in Europe/UK are as good as in the US.
@AvgDatabaseCEO You can also just hire an American in-country for $100k, or even less.
@AvgDatabaseCEO But not an excellent American Engineer?! You’re a pos!
@AvgDatabaseCEO For the "company culture". Isn't productivity entirely measured by the quality of the incidental watercooler conversations your employees are having? 🤣
@AvgDatabaseCEO They're brought here as cheap labor to destroy the demographics of America. Are we pretending that isn't a fact?
@AvgDatabaseCEO ANYTHING to not pay for American talent right? All this takes is closing our schools to these outside nations and that ends that also. India has an avg IQ of 75 and in Africa, like someone else suggested in your feedback its 66. Yeah you go hire them people...
@AvgDatabaseCEO Then you have to deal with euro employment laws. There’s a reason tech companies avoid building out anything more than S&M, BD, and call centers in Europe. Much more likely to hire remote talent in Asia than Europe.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Because it is racial. They want chain migration to take over corporations. It is warfare against civil institutions.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Well then you have to deal with EU rules. You have to deal with the time difference. I’ve dealt with teams in different time zones and it’s inefficient. Nothing like having the person near you.
@AvgDatabaseCEO Our American grads will work internships for free or dirt cheap to get trained up. How many cs grads would take unpaid internships at Microsoft / google / Facebook / Amazon for eh chance to prove themselves and get on the job training. American corporations are not even
@AvgDatabaseCEO See we knew you were never going to actually hire Americans anyhow - at least when you spend the money offshore then we dont get the immigrants here. I do hope that we find out ways in the US to ensure that companies like you do not get to take advantage of being in the US and
@AvgDatabaseCEO Or hire American pay nothing
@AvgDatabaseCEO wait what- euro engineer? you mean HVAC
@AvgDatabaseCEO Why would you hire anyone for a non-remote position?
