WHO IS ADÉLA??? — A guide to stanning the next pop diva of our generation 💗 (a 🧵)
Adéla Jergová is a Slovak singer-songwriter and dancer, born 27 November 2003. She is known for participating in the 2023 survival show Dream Academy, and the Netflix docu-series Pop Star Academy.
She began taking ballet lessons in Moscow starting when she was three years old. She also taught herself English starting at eight years old by watching American television series and was fluent by age nine.
As a child, she became interested in vocal mastering and production. As a teenager, she moved to Vienna to join the Vienna State Ballet, and then moved to London the following year to attend the English National Ballet School.
In Pop Star Academy, she showcased outstanding skills in both dancing and singing, as well as a profound sense of leadership and desire to uplift the other girls. Unfortunately, during the competition she was only given the chance to showcase one of these qualities to viewers.
She performed a group dance to the song "Pink Venom" and was unfortunately one of the first to be eliminated after receiving the fewest fan votes. She later described the competition as "the worst year of my life". The winners of the series went on to form the girl group KATSEYE.
After Pop Star Academy premiered, many viewers began to label Adéla as a "mean girl", accusing her of being disrespectful toward KATSEYE member Manon and being generally nasty. You're welcome to form your own opinions, but in my opinion these accusations are incorrect and unfair.
(I'm only bringing this up because you can't stan her without knowing about it. Sorry for digging up old dirt 😭)
Shortly after the release of Pop Star Academy, in September of 2024 — she released her debut single titled "HOMEWRECKED" independently.
"HOMEWRECKED" was written by Adéla herself, as well as Liam Benayon, Dylan Harrison & Riley Koapaka Aki who produced the song. It is a song detailing her experiences about dealing with the consequences of her father cheating at a young age.
"HOMEWRECKED" was recieved well, and a month later she released her second single "SUPERSCAR".
"SUPERSCAR", like "HOMEWRECKED", was written by Adéla herself and is a commentary on how the music industry treats young women. By this point she is still working independently, and thanks to the success of her debut single, she was able to make a proper music video!
The song was even better recieved than "HOMEWRECKED" and is still widely regarded as one of her best songs. It is one of my personal favourites and definitely my go-to recommendation when referring others to her music!
In February of 2025, Adéla released her third single titled "MACHINE GIRL". The song was once again written by herself and this time co-produced by Grimes. The music video starred cameos from both Grimes and actress Sophia Wylie.
"MACHINE GIRL" was once again written by Adéla and combats the hate she received from being called a “Mean girl” following her participation on Pop Star Academy. "Mean girl, mean girl — what's that even mean, girl? "Why you coming at me, baby? Yell at the machine, girl."
In May 2025, Adéla announced her signing of a recording contract with Capitol Records and Polydor Records, marking her first major label partnership. (I remember being so happy for her when she announced this!)
She released "DeathByDevotion", her second single with the label, in July 2025. She also announced the release of her debut EP, 'The Provocateur'.
“DeathByDevotion” marks a turning point in Adéla’s artistic journey — as a singer and her life as a ballerina. The track explores the dark side of blind loyalty, chronicling a toxic cycle of giving too much to someone who gives nothing back.
On the 22nd of August 2025, she released her debut EP The Provocateur alongside the final single "SexOnTheBeat". It consists of seven track, including the three singles we've already covered.
“SexOnTheBeat,” is a fun electronic song that has a fun and cheeky vibe. The song takes a shot at the oversexualization of women in the music industry.
"The Provocateur" is Adéla's statement as an artist who isn’t afraid of controversy, who produces her work, and who is dedicated to creating her unique place in the electronic and pop music world.
The other two songs on the EP include "Go" — which sees Adéla daydreaming about her life and what it can be despite what others think — and "FinallyApologizing" which include golden lyrics that respond directly to her critics.
"I want to create a world that’s relatable on a human level. I want to talk about things that are maybe uncomfortable. That’s who I am also as a person: I’m super blunt and kind of clinical, in a sense. Feelings, both positive and negative, hold the same weight to me."
Adéla's music is classified as pop. She has described her lyrics as "exaggerated" and "over-the-top" versions of the events of her life. She has cited Beyoncé and Lady Gaga as her biggest musical influences, calling herself "the biggest BeyHive you've ever fucking met."
All in all, I think Adéla is an extremely talented and defined artist definitely worth paying attention to. She is currently going on her debut tour "The Provocatour" and also working on her debut album! TLDR; STAN ADÈLA 🩷
