@mpopv Isn’t the point of hiking to like, exercise and work out? Are there really that many of them that try to shed literal ounces of weight so much so they consider this type of thing? Seems bizarre.

@Snukkems_Art @that_sponkler @mpopv That not all hikers need to worry about literal ounces of a battery pack, and it is only something extreme hikers do. The w tire point of my original reply was wondering how many of these extreme hikers actually do that.

@Snukkems_Art @that_sponkler @mpopv No the walking stick was to fight currents of the waist high water at some points in the Narrows. Hiking to help get exercise is why I do it.

@spencergiblin @that_sponkler @mpopv Oh my god dude. Hold your phone out in front of you as far as you can and hold it there for 10 minutes straight. That multiplication of perceived weight due to muscle strain happens every few steps while walking

@Snukkems_Art @that_sponkler @mpopv My grandma is 83. My hiker friends are in their 20-30s and do it mostly for cardio and exercise, while taking in the views of Colorado. Again, not many of them that I’ve heard talking about shedding ounces off their packs. Anecdotal evidence on both sides of this.
