Line-up & Intentions 📌Farioli uses the 4-3-3 as a reference point system. 📌 Here’s Porto’s most recent starting XI, along with some of their main intentions in possession. ⬇️

1⃣ Narrow Fullbacks for progression. In Porto’s 4-3-3, Fullbacks step inside next to the Defensive Midfielder. Shorter passing distances. Easier access to find the free man inside the block. 📹 Finding the DM free against a 4-4-2.

2⃣ Attraction & Third Man. In build-up, Porto invites pressure. Once opponent steps out → Quick Third-Man support. 📹 Players are proactive off the ball, specially midfielders, offering passing lanes fast to find the free man and break lines.

3⃣ Wide Wingers & Direct Balls. From time to time → Direct long balls into space for winger runs. With this they are less predictable, mixing short combinations with sudden depth.

4⃣ Fullbacks in the Last Third & Dynamic Advantages. FBs don’t start high — they arrive late. 📹 On-ball side FB joins to add one more player on the last line, other FB keeps balance. Security first, then overloads. Structure evolves: 2-3-5 → 3-1-6.

5⃣ Rigid Structure & Few Positional Rotations. Early Stages, still a rigid structure under Farioli. 📹 Few rotations so far — mostly between Advanced midfielder & Fullback. Expect more fluidity step by step as the team develops.

6⃣ Goal-Kick Routines & Pre-established Patterns. Goal-kicks prepared like Set Pieces routines. Pre-established patterns instead of spontaneous moves. Often shift: 4-3-3 → 4-2-3-1. Each restart can look different = Harder to press.

7⃣ High Press & Detailed Pressing Plans. Central areas: Man-to-Man. Wide areas: +1 at the back. Adapted to the opponent, player availability & game context — always proactive, always well-drilled. 📹 3 clips, 3 variations of their high press.

8⃣ Defensive Midfielder Role & Middle-Low Block. 📹 DM helps balance defensive line when needed. Sometimes drops between CBs, but more often slides between CB & FB. Aim: shift into a 5-4-1 in deeper phases.

9⃣ Winger-Fullback & Pressing Duo. Pressing Partnerships. Winger steps onto opposition Centre-Back, Fullback jumps onto opposition Fullback. Porto can press aggresively with their FBs, Varela (DM) is always ready to drop and protect the defensive line.

🔟 Rest Defense & Counterpress. Porto secure stability with 3+1 / 2+3 rest defense structures. When possession is lost → immediate pressure. With a PPDA of 7.35, they are among the best in Europe in pressing intensity.

@Ruxiiii4 @TH_GAME_CHANGER @LiveTagPro @Effmatch I miss him so much at Ajax. Even if we were terribly boring and bad in some games.
