A problem statement I've often heard from well wishers of Ethereum is, ,, can you give us one public key where we send money & it auto-redistributes to the relevant repos or projects" glad to see the work @thelazyliz , @clesaege and I undertook at the Iceland residency

@TheDevanshMehta @thelazyliz @clesaege Hopefully it can be a smart contract and not an actual public key!

@VitalikButerin @thelazyliz @clesaege hope so too! i guess that primarily depends on how open source repos claim the money given through the mechanism, whether thats an auto direct to splits contract like @ProtocolGuild or a maintainers giving money to contributors making a PR like @merit_systems

@TheDevanshMehta @thelazyliz @clesaege @ProtocolGuild @merit_systems I feel like you should be able to split up the two functions (i) deep funding logic (ii) for an arbitrary organization, create an ETH address that can be used to pay to it (using kleros for claim dispute arbitration)

@VitalikButerin @thelazyliz @clesaege @ProtocolGuild @merit_systems yeah hoping @dripsnetwork can help with (i). they would need to integrate with Seer to take real time pricing of the repos in the market & adjust the splits to repos automatically the other issue is unclaimed funds, if a repo doesn't take it we should autodistribute back

@TheDevanshMehta @VitalikButerin @thelazyliz @clesaege @ProtocolGuild @merit_systems @dripsnetwork Yeah, that’s exactly how @dripsnetwork is executing on it: 1. The deep funding logic is decoupled from the actual distribution. 2. The output is a Drip List (a splits configuration). 3. Each Drip List has its own address—anyone can fund it by sending tokens to that one address.

@lftherios @VitalikButerin @thelazyliz @clesaege @ProtocolGuild @merit_systems @dripsnetwork Is the splits configuration fixed at a price or can it be changer by periodically querying the seer oracle on its current price?

@TheDevanshMehta @VitalikButerin @thelazyliz @clesaege @ProtocolGuild @merit_systems @dripsnetwork the drip list (splits configuration) can be owned by anything, including another smart contract, and that address can make edits to the list over time. so it's totally possible to add any logic to update it, like periodically querying an oracle.

@lftherios @VitalikButerin @thelazyliz @clesaege @ProtocolGuild @merit_systems @dripsnetwork Great good to know we don't need to make a new list every time the price changes or a new repo gets added This is also the current process @carl_cervone & @OSObserver is using for generating dependencies. But it's been hard getting an accurate list, most maintainers are unhappy
