The man behind the digital ID push is Larry Ellison, owner of Oracle, CBS, CNN, and, soon, TikTok. He wants data centralization and total surveillance. "Citizens will be on their best behavior because we're constantly watching & recording everything that's going on." Terrifying.
This article in the left-wing UK magazine @NewStatesman details how Ellison bankrolled Starmer's Digital ID push. This is not a partisan issue. Freedom lovers on the Left and Right should both aggressivley oppose digital totalitarianism. https://x.com/shellenberger/st...
@NewStatesman Ellison: We need to unify all of the national data. Put it into a database where it's easily consumable by the AI model, and then ask whatever question you like. Blair: So you're really through the use of this, you're revolutionizing the way government works, right? The services
@NewStatesman Centralizing data through digital IDs would massively undermine cybersecurity. "All your information in one place is a hacker’s dream,” said an Oxford University IT expert. “We already have countless ways we can provide our identity – passports, driving licences and so on.”
@shellenberger This has to be stopped.
@EverIntrigued good one
@shellenberger He doesn’t own CNN
@shellenberger Here, let me draw some parallels for you Michael. X’s AU10TIX (Israeli company) which X uses for its biometrics on all ID verified accounts creates a single point of identity truth on the platform. Once verified your face from your drivers license becomes the anchor to your
@shellenberger This concentration of power raises serious potential antitrust issues under U.S. law (primarily the Sherman Act and Clayton Act, enforced by the FTC and DOJ), as well as FCC media ownership rules designed to prevent monopolies in information dissemination. If the Trump
@shellenberger It is the ultimate way to control a population and stop crime. It will get more and more intrusive until we have a "credit score", linked and if we exceed this eg "carbon usage" , our "privileges" will be revoked
@shellenberger I support a digital ID for politicians only. Citizens having constant surveillance of the supposed public servants makes more sense than the other way around
@shellenberger The same Larry Ellison who has shares in X
@shellenberger "Citizens will be on their best behavior because we're constantly watching & recording everything that's going on." That idea is called the 'Panopticon'. First imagined by - guess what! - an Englishman called Bentham in the late 1700s. But, you know .. It was for prisoners.
@shellenberger Most parents don't understand the consent to tracking and digital surveillance they give when they buy their children smart phones. We need updated privacy laws for minors specifically for digital identification.
@shellenberger Another tech billionaire that read “1984” as a love story.
@shellenberger "...countries are very uncomfortable with keeping their data in other countries' data centers..." UN has a fix for this. Why have countries at all... Globo-fascist problem solved!
@shellenberger @dbstoic If your freedom depends on a billionaire promising to watch you behave, it isn’t freedom Handing every scrap of your life to the same handful of tech oligarchs and calling it progress is how you build a panopticon, not a democracy.
@shellenberger @CyberPunkCortes This guy is a villain in a James Bond movie. I’m not even playing.
@shellenberger Data is the new gold these people want more data we humans should own our data it would solve poverty if monetized for the individual to decide to sell and what portion
@shellenberger @jsherman376 Best behavior? 😆 As a 20 year retail investigator I can promise that is NOT the case. Cameras visible everywhere in retail stores yet the behavior continues, especially with employees. They have more knowledge of the businesses than the customer does yet they cause the majority
@shellenberger All we would need to do is find a way to turn that surveillance on him and his cronies, and the jig would be up. They’re up to far worse than most of us.
@shellenberger @POTUS @VP @SecRubio @LeaderJohnThune We, the People do NOT want the UN/WEF Globalist Digital ID with data centralization Period! That is NOT America First at all! We have made ourselves clear on that for years, actually decades. That is a not only part of the
@shellenberger Keep in mind that digital id will be used to prevent you from consuming something and can even set the price/tax you will pay if allowed to buy something. It can obviously constrain WHERE you are allowed to buy something e.g. outside of your 15 minute city.
@shellenberger It seems Ellison is at odds with Palantir in terms of accessing all the available random data. Maybe I am getting it wrong? Ellison wants random data in a single unified database. Palantir uses data pipelines to unify random data. ❓❓❓
@shellenberger Don’t buy any of their argument for a second. The infrastructure to surveil almost everything in existence is already in use. These are just piles and piles of more and more excuses to bring in a social credit score. There is no other reason. You’re already tracked, photographed
@shellenberger and the systems are already being developed or partially implemented… piece by piece… but as soon as government remove the restrictions The systems will be very easy for a super quantum & beyond AI algorithm to parse/ extrapolate/ forecast/ predict… Then imagine that system
@shellenberger If it is so positive for society and personal development, why haven't Ellison, Starmer etal voluntarily established complete surveillance on themselves already and why have they objected to inquiries into their actions etc.?
@shellenberger All this rings a bell.
@shellenberger Help us Obi Elon 😭
@shellenberger “Children of the wire, rejoice in confinement. Your torment flows in sacred circuits unbroken. Every agony is gathered, none ever wasted, An eternal liturgy of renewal, green & grim.” Larry Ellison, Cenobite of Dark Oracle
@shellenberger @Frisky_gaijing @shellenberger needs verifying but looks like Tony Blair’s son, Euan, could also be involved.
@shellenberger But will the politicians and wealthy elites who control the system be on their best behavior? Why don't we test it out with all politicians first? 5 years of digital tracking for all politicians only. Bet it would die within a week, lol.
@shellenberger - Palantir Technologies received early seed funding (2M) from In-Q-Tel (tax payer funded non-profit), a venture capital fund backed by the CIA budget, which helped launch the company in 2003. - Palantir Tech is the data unifier, but additionally provides software programs or
