Since I picked up a lot of new followers from that dinosaur post, I just want to be clear: I don't believe that politics or history is a morality play with defined by good guys vs bad guys. While there are bad guys, for the most part the actors are thoroughly gray. 1/
I'm also not someone who thinks that, because one side acts very badly, that you ought not call out the other side for simply behaving badly. In other words, I am emphatically pro-both-sidesism. In fact, I think that is at the core of being a good analyst. 2/2

@SeanTrende Some people would say Twitter Sean Trende is pretty one-sided. Too smart and well-read to not acknowledge facts and arguments he is certainly aware of. His RCP articles are excellent and insightful.

@SeanTrende Andrew Jackson, Franklin Roosevelt, and Richard Nixon are great examples of "mixed bag" Presidents. Even Reagan had his flaws, esp. on immigration.
