1/ Every 2nd October, we’re told Gandhi was “Mahatma of the masses.” Reality? He was selected, staged & imported through missionary PR + Gokhale’s patronage. Let’s expose the psyop.
2/ South Africa: Gandhi wasn’t unknown. Missionary circles promoted him. Rev. Joseph J. Doke (Baptist pastor) wrote the first Gandhi biography (1909). Imagine - a PR book before India even saw him as leader.
3/ Doke’s narrative packaged Gandhi as moral saint, defender of the weak, preacher of peace. Sound familiar? It was the beta-version of the “Mahatma brand.”
4/ Meanwhile in India: 1905 Bengal Partition sparks real revolution. Tilak, Aurobindo, Savarkar awaken youth rage. British panic. They need a “moderate” alternative.
5/ Enter Gopal Krishna Gokhale. The “moderate” face of Congress. He pushed petitions, prayers, slow reforms - exactly what the Raj wanted.
6/ 1907: Congress splits into Extremists (Tilak) vs Moderates (Gokhale). Guess which camp empire endorsed? The one that preached patience.
7/ So when Gandhi is rising in South Africa with missionary PR, Gokhale notices. He sees a perfect “saintly” mascot for his moderate politics.
8/ 1912: Gokhale sails to South Africa. Not a casual trip. He tours with full official hospitality: 👉 A special railway carriage 👉 Mayors, receptions, carpets on platforms 👉 Local press coverage
9/ And who is with him, arranging and accompanying? Gandhi. The “train saint” narrative starts here.
10/ You were taught Gandhi was “thrown off a train” in 1893. Yes, Pietermaritzburg story. But retellings shifted over time - some details don’t add up.

@SanskarBarot Get a life ppl. Stop whining abt Gandhi. There are 1000s of Freedom fighters in India who fought Invaders. Gandhi chose nonviolence. Who asked your forefathers to not follow in the footsteps of Bhagat Singh & instead follow Gandhi?
