Prince Of Persia: The Warrior Within (2004) – Didn’t beat Sands of Time in sales, but a legendary classic story-wise. Darker tone, combat-heavy gameplay with more weapons & combos, non-linear exploration, secrets to uncover, and replayability that kept players coming back. 🔥💯

Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (2010) – Sales respectable but lower than franchise blockbuster Sands of Time (14M) . Movie tie-in 🎬 didn’t significantly boost performance. It was profitable, loved by fans, but not a true franchise huge hit like expected.

After Prince of Persia: Dawnfall, the series stopped releasing new games. Assassin’s Creed, which was originally meant to be a Prince of Persia sequel, became its own franchise. Despite Prince of Persia (2008) and The Forgotten Sands releasing.

Their sales (25–35 lakh) were tiny compared to Assassin’s Creed games (1–9 crore). So Ubisoft shifted focus to Assassin’s Creed, making it their flagship series.

And Prince of Persia wasn’t fully Ubisoft’s original idea —they also sharing profits with the original owners. When Assassin’s Creed launched, they owned it entirely, and the rest is gaming history.

Although many Prince Of Persia fans had lost hope, thinking the series was completely over, it wasn’t the end. In 2013, Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat clarified that POP hadn’t stopped—it was just on hold. Fans still have a chance to see the legendary series return someday!

After 13 years, Ubisoft finally released a major Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (2024), During this time, they also made several smaller titles, including 2D classic Prince of Persia games and 3D versions for Android phones.

9. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (2024) Lifetime sales - 1.3M (Flop) Critically acclaimed, but didn't meet Ubisoft's sales expectations, leading to the development team being disbanded.

Originally set for January 2021, it faced multiple delays—first to March 2021, then indefinitely—to address fan feedback and improve development. In May 2022, Ubisoft Montreal took over the project, and now confirmed that the remake is slated for release by March 31, 2026. 🔥

The Sands of Time Remake (2026) brings major upgrades over the OG 2003 version. ✨ It features next-gen graphics, refined combat with smoother animations, enhanced parkour and vertical exploration, cinematic cutscenes, and streamlined controls for modern consoles and PC.

Fans will be thrilled as Yuri Lowenthal returns as the voice of the Prince, bringing back the iconic charm and spirit of the original game, while staying true to the classic, these updates make the gameplay feel polished, immersive, and ready for a new generation of players.

No dout the remake can’t fully match the nostalgia of 2003, but I hope it becomes a huge success. Only a Hlhuge hit it remake can revive this legendary franchise. No doubt—if it succeeds, Ubisoft could continue the trilogy from Two Thrones next!

#PrinceOfPersia Legacy: From its 1989 2D beginnings to modern 3D adventures, the series pioneered cinematic platforming, introduced iconic time-manipulation mechanics, and set new benchmarks for storytelling in games. 💯
