I think there is a big future for "matchmaking" and semi-arranged marriages. But this requires a level of old fashioned honesty and "earthiness" that almost feels transgressive today. Height, weight, teeth, eyes, income, all these things are going to be discussed.
@Empty_America It’s got to happen long before the kid has an income history. When we are talking about arranged marriages it’s gonna be like: he’s worked at the local pizza joint for 2 years since he turned 14
@silvopasturist Yeah I would say you can basically predict provider ability from teenage work history.
@Empty_America @silvopasturist Really? When I was 19 my work history was: 3 months as a bus boy 3 months as a ski ticket checker 12 months as a waiter 3 years as a farm worker concurrent with being a busboy Today I make high 200s (so totally unable to provide) Was that predictable?
@IRLhandshake @Empty_America @silvopasturist I took it as a yes/no. Will you be a bum or can you focus enough to support yourself? Not any specific level of provision, although background and family may assist with that.

@GRONreturns @WorkforLife3 @Empty_America @silvopasturist you're lucky! buying a pretty ordinary 2 bed anywhere near where I currently live starts at ~900k we could move out of state but commutable and get a 3 bed starter house for 900k but I still couldn't cover that much mortgage on just my salary
@WorkforLife3 @Empty_America @silvopasturist so not saying I'm a bum but theres a difference between being able to be "a provider" and being a hardworker who can contribute to the household
