The aircraft carriers entered the base’s harbor after passing wavebreaks with several tugboats providing assistance.
Several PLAN vessels, including two Type 052DG/Luyang III class destroyers and a Type 055/Renhai class cruiser, also returned to Yulin Naval Base later in the day.
The Fujian likely conducted exercises with embarked aircraft, such as Z-18 medium utility helicopters, when it was in the South China Sea.
It is unknown if the Fujian aircraft carrier conducted integration tests with PLAN vessels that also departed the base.
Furthermore, it is unknown if the Shandong aircraft carrier conducted any flight operations during its voyage.
