The worst part of Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch are the pointer controls with the Pro Controller. I feel like there could have been a more elegant solution than what they came up with.

@Stealth40k I play Super Mario Galaxy 2 with the joy-cons detached. That way, it feels similar with the Wii remote and Nunchuck!

@Stealth40k 100% this! I can't figure it out especially with Yoshi...

@Stealth40k Joy-Con controllers aren’t much better and have to get reset a bunch with the R shoulder button way too often. Too bad they couldn’t replicate the real feel of the Wii Remotes pointing at the screen with the sensor bar.

@Stealth40k I actually find the pro controller pointer to be perfectly comfortable tbh being able to re-center it sometimes is all I need

@Stealth40k First of all, who even plays Super Mario Galaxy with a Pro Controller? For me, that’s such heresy — it’s meant to be played with the Joy-Cons, just like the Wiimote and Nunchuk back in the day.

@Stealth40k If only the switch came with two controllers that can be separated and replicate the feeling of using the wii remote and nunchuck

@Stealth40k Yeah it's weird, it's an awkward game to modernize. Just unfortunately the gimmicks drag it down some. I kind of wish they had an assist mode that locked Yoshi's tongue onto the closest object and R could go to the next thing or something. And then just autocollect all starbits

@Stealth40k is it not the same as galaxy 1 on all stars? it worked great there

@Stealth40k I feel like I’m resetting the Pointer constantly. In addition, I wish they would’ve taken the leash off the camera controls. Galaxy especially feel very restrictive on viewing. Positives though: the visuals look great and I can’t put down the game. Each level is a joy.

@Stealth40k I struggle with this on Galaxy 1 as well... I have to keep re-centering the pointer every few seconds.

@Stealth40k Yeah, the right stick. It would have been more elegant than touch controls too, which don't work in tandem with the type of input this game expects of you at all.

@Stealth40k Genuinely want them to release an NSO Wii remote for stuff like this.

@Stealth40k What do you mean by more elegant? Like they really couldn’t have done anything else to make it feel any better

@Stealth40k Bro it’s fine just get used to it dw

@Stealth40k Already got used to them, my only complaints are the ball motion games, but even then they're doable

@Stealth40k As someone who's been playing Galaxy 1 like that, y'all are overexaggerating IMO. It ain't that bad, especially once you're used to it

@Stealth40k I’m genuinely struggling to think of one on a pro controller outside of using the right stick and that would probably feel way more awkward.

@Stealth40k It's literally a minor movement and I know you play like a causal. You aren't going to be able to do something meant specifically with the wii mote. I am pretty sure the joy cons don't match the accuracy. Everytime people complain about controls I simple beat the games.

@Stealth40k I feel like split joycons would be the way to go with this game, especially because of the Yoshi controls

@Stealth40k Trust me play with joy cons. It’s so much better

@Stealth40k I honestly don’t know of a better solution other than using detached Joy-Cons to get the full Wiimote experience.

@Stealth40k i use joycons. why r u using a pro controller ? 😂

@Stealth40k I was hoping that they’d use the mouse controls but they held that for just P2.

@Stealth40k Is it not just gyro controls with the controller? I don’t see why that would be a problem. At least I don’t think it’s a problem for Metroid Prime, which is way more pointer intensive

@Stealth40k Your problem is that you’re playing the game with a pro controller lmao

@Stealth40k Honestly, I wish they'd just add wiimote compatability. They're Bluetooth and you can get battery powered sensor bars. Would be great for not just the galaxy games, but skyward sword HD and the house of the dead remakes too.

@Stealth40k right stick wouldve been a better way tbh

@Stealth40k I've personally been fine with it. Utilizing the right bumper to reset to the center makes it a lot easier. I'll also specify I'm not playing in controller mode though. I'm playing with the straps. I do the same for Cyberpunk for gyro controls

@Stealth40k I didn't know anyone was having issues with this. Mine works perfectly. Easy to precisely control. Feels natural. Might be a controller issue.

@Stealth40k Man, I feel like the only person that's finding it fine and better than the Wii Remote. The Pro Controller aim is super quick and accurate for me. Combine it with the quick reset to center and I end up getting Starbits and generally aiming an absolute ton better than on Wii.

@Stealth40k I would recommend to play how it was designed...on a Wii or else with split joycons.

@Stealth40k Not really, the game was designed around with pointer capabilities of the Wii. On Dolphin I've tried using the right stick for these games and its really not very good, gyro is the best they could do without making new Wii controllers for Switch

@Stealth40k Split joy con my guy

@Stealth40k I feel like the fluzzard and rolling ball stuff could have easily been done with standard controls but Yoshi was gonna be rough regardless as some levels with him were design heavily around the wii’s pointer mechanic and would be tricky to change without altering the level itself

@Stealth40k There's not much else they could do. Just use Joy Cons

@Stealth40k I play with detached joy cons and it's perfect. No issues with accuracy either
