I wanted to share the news that Fantastic Pixel Castle’s time as a first party studio within NetEase Games is coming to an end.

NetEase Games has been very gracious and supportive of looking for another publisher for our game. However, in the current market environment very few deals are getting made for any game, let alone something on the scale of an MMORPG.

We’re doing everything we can to find a publisher or investor. At the same time, we’re encouraging our team members to explore future opportunities and supporting them through the uncertainty.

If we're unable to find a publisher soon, the reality is that the studio would likely close, and the entire team, leadership included, would be affected.

We want to thank the Ghost community, our playtesters, and the literally hundreds of people who have given us advice on how to find funding in this absurdly challenging time for our industry.  I hope you all will have a chance to play Ghost.

I also want to thank the FPC team who has made a game that we all should be proud of. I know it's cliche to say this, but demonstrably this is the best team I have ever worked with.

We are rigorous in collecting data, and the data on our team morale and performance is higher than I have ever seen. Despite the challenges, the past two years have been the most satisfying of my career. /thread

@Ghostcrawler Oh, first Hytale, then Ghost? 2025 is definitely not my year

@Ghostcrawler Very sorry to hear this Greg. Your approach on open development was more of what the industry and genre needed.

@Ghostcrawler This is really hard to hear after the journey you and your team have been on to get this far. I hope things somehow work out so that your work can continue.

@Ghostcrawler It’s worth checking with the Saudis, they might be interested. Unfortunately a lot of publishers jumped into gaming for activism to push messaging… and people don’t like those game experiences. YOUR GAME is not that, but it sucked a lot of life out of the industry.

@Ghostcrawler How much do you need to keep going? Why not do a Patreon? How many subscribers would you need?

@Ghostcrawler You were unable to capitalize on a vision that you could effectively sell to gamers. Your identity as an MMO was unclear and therefore lacked appeal. It was a hard sell and im not surprised you were dropped.

@Ghostcrawler Devastated to hear that. I have a lot of respect for the team and really appreciated the transparency y'all offered throughout development. If you are able to share, why now? Was an internal milestone missed or is NetEase simply not taking the risk/cost needed?

@Ghostcrawler Hey ghost - you never buffed fury war, but thats okay dont give up im here for you

@Ghostcrawler Cough cough Riot? Cough Cough

@Ghostcrawler It’s okay. Close the studio down, join Intrepid studios and see if they will take you and some of your best team members. Join forces and bring Ashes to life. Make the right move 👻

@Ghostcrawler With how all of a sudden the studio seemed to just go dark and seeing some games letting go international investments i had a sinking suspicion that things weren't good. Damn, im so sorry guys. Is Kickstarter out of the question?

@Ghostcrawler Do you think this is in response to the general audience reaction to one of the games primary features “blue zones”? It seemed that the rogue like elements were a turn off for many traditional mmorpg enjoyers.

@Ghostcrawler I knew it was over the moment the JSH video dropped. Yall had no answers and no direction. It was a mess

@Ghostcrawler If I was a multimillionaire I’d graciously give you guys all you needed to realize your vision. Really hope you find a publisher willing to take the risk. The project was one I observed closely. Lot of potential for a great experience. Wish all of your team and you the best. 🫡

@Ghostcrawler Have you considered kickstarter or such?

@Ghostcrawler bro...first riot and now netease...im so sorry to the team who i know are trying to hustle have to go throught this, hopefully you find a house to build from.

@Ghostcrawler writing was on the wall sadly. so sad to see that it became reality. hopefully you'll find a new publisher soon. @mikemorhaime pls

@Ghostcrawler Why not decentralize it and or community run

@Ghostcrawler I am extremely sad to hear this. I can only pray you find someone as I still believe you can make a great game and the open dev process is great to see as well.

@Ghostcrawler WTF NOOOOOOOO

@Ghostcrawler We lost another mmorpg before release, sad times

@Ghostcrawler Oh no. I hope an industry miracle can happen and a solution is revealed. I was looking forward to giving it a try.

@Ghostcrawler Greg, I’m so sorry to hear this. Really hope things work out and you and the team can keep up the work you’re doing here.

@Ghostcrawler Get this man's a publisher.

@Ghostcrawler NOOOOOOOOOOO
