Last week I had an episode with the Android app at work. We have an automated ci/cd that, if native code changes, it builds, signs, and uploads our app to both Google Play and App Store. Somehow the binary file for Android was faulty, so it would crash on startup. +
Well, somehow the review team at Google Play team did not caught it so it ended up on our user's phones. To top it off we had to wait for another 2 days for the review to pass, as it was a weekend. What even is the point of reviews if it'll even not catch a crashing binary? +
We had updated our native dependencies, therefore we had to publish an update and couldn't rollback to the previous bundle, as we use code-push because review process are miserable. @googledevs @Android @AndroidDev
@googledevs @Android @AndroidDev @theo Please bring back the app review process to the conversation. They are such a hassle and make the development and product experience so much worse for the native app devs and their users.
