2/ California used to do big things. From rockets in the Mojave to chips in Silicon Valley, California dreamed. California designed. California built. But then we stopped. To lead again, we need a place that can capture the imagination of the nation. Solano can be that place.

3/ The land use plan is the same as our 2024 plan, but after 1.5 years of work by 100+ people, much more detailed and ready to build. The plan also has a new home now. Last year, the community was clear – we like the plan, but in Solano County, “what is urban shall be

4/ Master-planned expansions of our cities have created some of the world’s most beloved neighborhoods. From the Manhattan Plan of 1811 which expanded Manhattan north of Houston Street, to Barcelona’s Eixample (“extension”), magic happens when you connect the new to the old.

5/ The Suisun Expansion includes Solano Foundry, a new downtown, and over a 40-year build out, walkable neighborhoods with 175,000+ homes. The proposed Solano Shipyard, 7 miles south, remains in unincorporated Solano County. I will post more details later, but six highlights now:

6/ We're building a real city, not a bedroom community, complete with jobs (Shipyard, Foundry, downtown), an entertainment district modeled on the Meatpacking District in NYC, Fulton Market in Chicago, and R Street in Sacramento, and walkable neighborhoods for everyone.

7/ Classic 🇺🇸 American street grid + 🇪🇸Barcelona/🇯🇵Tokyo superblocks + 🇳🇱 Dutch woonerfs + detail obsession = most walkable city in America. Like California’s fusion cuisine, we drew inspiration from the best designs from across the world to create something delightful.

8/ Family first. We’re prioritizing homeownership and family-sized units. Infill mostly builds small rentals, not ownership. Nationally, 95% of infill units are rentals, and only 5% for sale. We’ve designed for missing middle housing types where families can purchase homes.

9/ We want to be a platform for hundreds of builders. To do that, we designed a small parcel fabric where lots of people co-create a real city, not a monoculture. The building types we’re most excited about are row homes (👋@bobbyfijan) and courtyards (👋@urbancourtyard).

10/@CAForever has now secured enough water for the full build out of 175,000+ homes, the Solano Foundry, and everything else. Our water supply comes from our existing surface and groundwater rights, additional purchased surface water, and use of recycled water for industrial

11/ The magic of great city living is having both jobs, shops, and entertainment and nature close by. By designing compact neighborhoods, we’ve been able to reserve more than a third of the area – over 5,000 acres – for greenways, parks, and greenbelts, incl. a huge central park.

@xixixao @CAForever Hi Michal! Take a look at the Transportation Chapter of the plans. People can own cars if they want, but we want to offer better options for internal trips. And then there's an option of leaving your car at a garage at the edge of the city. But it's about giving people a choice,

@jansramek @CAForever Where you're building, you're gonna need ~~15-20 foot levees to get to FEMA "B" level protection. Best of luck building those levees in the middle of the Delta.

@SierraSpartan @CAForever Read the plan! The entire city is not just out of the flood plain, but above the projected 2,150 medium-aggressive sea level rise projection *with* a flood condition at that 2,150 baseline level. It's one of the most resilient places in California to build.
