CAPTAINCY THREAD After the int'l break, it's time to get back with some big green arrows & better our record of 56 captaincy returns in the last 72 GWs😍 A whopping ~78% score! Give this a read to get your #GW8 captain right✅ Follow us @thefplbois for more such content💙
Haaland - EVE (H) At this point it doesn’t even matter who the robot is up against as he’s been firing in goals left, right, and centre! Now he prepares to take on Everton who rank 15th for xGC and have kept 2 clean sheets from their first 7 games.
He has been in exceptional form with 16 goals in his last 8 games! He ranks 1st for goals scored, 1st for xG, 1st for nPxG, 5th for Big Chances Created & 2nd for Penalty Area Touches! Leading the attack for City who now rank 1st for goals, 3rd for xG & 2nd for Big Chances Created
Everton have looked shaky in defence and especially against players through the middle, with strikers having the best time against them than any other attackers. Haaland’s record against the Toffees is strong with 4 goals in 4 games.
We’ve seen how explosive he can be to the point that it’s a routine now. Heading into the gameweek with 70 points in just 7 games and no signs of slowing down with a creative hub behind him and penalty kick duties, make Erling the top candidate for the armband!
Salah - MUN (H) Record breaker last season & being rushed out of teams in just 7 games this season! The tide is definitely against the king but this could be the fixture where he rises to the top again as he faces fierce rivals & his favorite opponent in Amorim’s Man United.
For his standards, it has been a slow start despite scoring 34 points in 7 games and ranking 15th for goals scored, 14th for xG, 34th for nPxG, 8th for assists, 20th for xA, 2nd for Big Chances Created, and 7th for Penalty Area Touches.
#LIV will also be looking to bounce back after 3 straight losses! Their attack ranks 3rd for goals scored, 7th for xG, and 3rd for Big Chances Created. Meanwhile United’s defence ranks 17th for xGC and has conceded 11 goals in 7 games keeping just one clean sheet in the process.
The record heavily favors Salah as he has dominated this fixture in the past with 15G & 6A in 16 games. While he may not be as pivotal in attack as last season, he still has a lot of fire power & potential of a high ceiling in #GW8 making him a strong contender for the armband.
Gabriel - FUL (A) You read that right! A defender has finally made his way to the shortlist & of course it had to be from Arsenal & of course it had to be Gabriel! Being an integral part of the most solid defensive unit in the league, he has proven his worth over the last
few seasons & stands out as a differential captain this GW. Having scored 47 points in 7 games he has shown incredible consistency while also possessing an impending goal threat from set pieces, something that Arteta’s system is heavily reliant upon.
He’s ranked 2nd for points per match amongst defenders and will be facing a Fulham attack that ranks 12th for goals & 14th for xG while having played a lot weaker defences so far. He has been averaging 9+ DEFCON points this season & has kept four clean sheets out of seven
games despite playing some much better attacks than #FUL. He’s definitely not the conventional choice to go for captaincy for most but there’s undeniable potential which could appeal to the brave to hand him the armband!
Thank you for reading our thread! Tricky fixtures, exciting choices - who are you picking to lead your team to more green arrows in #GW8?
@thefplbois Wow thanks mate, I would never have picked Haaland without this vital information
@thefplbois I'm going it's united he owns them
@thefplbois I can see it now though that Moyes without grealish goes there and puts every man behind the ball, if they hold on to that 0-0 for too long City will find it very hard to break down. So is it a week to opt for a punt????
@thefplbois I’m tempted to run salah captain as differential but I’ve had a great start to the year (250k and 1st in my mini league) and I’m worried that it’s too big a risk and if haaland goes off, suddenly I’m looking at a big red arrow that I didn’t need to take.
@thefplbois Haaland ✅
