Unfortunately the data was encrypted and recovering the data would require the keys stored on the damaged camera. With help from the manufacturer they recovered the images and data stored on the card.

And unfortunately, the camera had been configured to dump data onto an external storage device, so nothing was found from the accident dive

@DJSnM FYI the board at the bottom left is just a commodity board called a Teensy 3.2 which has a Freescale/NXP MK20 MCU. Not sure why they needed to redact that. This board is not manufactured to any industry standards and is a hobby grade board used in DIY and prototyping.

@DJSnM The circuit boards look like they are just thrown in the case sloppily. Makes you wonder what else was assembled in a sloppy manner which would be trusting human life in risky conditions.

@DJSnM The redaction is a joke, the SoM is obviously an Inforce 6601 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the MCU board is a Teensy 4.0, the SD card is obviously a SanDisk Pro Extreme 512GB. It obviously runs either Linux or Android, probably Android because of the "OS update that changed

@DJSnM I thought everything imploded and there was nothing left and also it was incredibly difficult or impossible to recover anything. And now there are sd cards floating around??? I call BS

@DJSnM The G-force would have been impressive. We have seen the front of large ROVs destroyed when a depth rating of a small piece of equipment was exceeded. Doubt we would learn much new even if the camera was recording, but interesting.

@DJSnM Implosion occurred in milliseconds, there would not have been anything gruesome. Could have provided useful confirmatory evidence about the nature of the failures though. But of course the same company that goofed up the submarine, goofed up how the camera operated.

@DJSnM The morbid reality is the camera frame rate would have to be very high to see anything the implosion would have been effectively instantaneous , essentially the crew would have diesel ignited instantaneously as the hull failed , that's the gritty reality , CE la vie
