And yet Trump is back for more after one phone call. We may never know why Trump’s only consistent loyalty, not to say fealty, is to mass-murdering KGB thug Vladimir Putin, but the what matters more than the why.
Putin started this war because he needs conflict to stay in power, which is why he will never end it unless Russia is comprehensively defeated. If Trump really wants to be a peacemaker, he must know by now that it starts with pressuring invader Russia, not victim Ukraine.
Putin waves business deals under Trump’s nose and once again it’s fine that Russia is murdering Ukrainian civilians with drones and missiles every night, kidnapping thousands of children, and launching attacks all over NATO. Another summit, another two weeks, another TACO.
Treating terrorist Russia as a rational partner and Putin puppet Orban as mediator is a joke. But Ukraine will continue to destroy Russia's energy infrastructure and will win. Trump will say he tried his best to make peace, but he & the GOP siding with Russia won’t be forgotten.
You may prefer to believe Trump is being played by Putin instead of being complicit in a corrupt authoritarian project to divide up the world with China and its junior partner Russia. Again, the what is more important than the why. Ukrainian survival and victory is what matters.
