@SawyerMerritt The fact that they weren’t already using FSD in a closed, one-way, 0 traffic, super short route, with no pedestrians or surprises along the way, was mind blowing! I never understood why that was the case.

@SawyerMerritt It was interesting to hear, in another boring tunnel video, one of the drivers were saying that he didn’t think it will be possible for self-driving cars to be used in the tunnels as the tunnels are so narrow…. As if human drivers are better than computers on measuring

@SawyerMerritt It’s funny I just did the loop this past Monday night and was surprised that everything is driver controlled. No FSD. I had been under the impression it was FSD controlling the vehicle in the tunnel.

@SawyerMerritt Vegas tunnels are the bowling lanes of self driving, bumpers up. GPS vanishes underground, so FSD leans on cameras, IMUs, and HD maps for precise localization. A private right of way lowers regulatory drag and cuts wild edge cases. Nail it here, then expand to hub to hub routes

@SawyerMerritt Real world validation of FSD in controlled environments is exactly what investors want to see. If they scale this properly it could unlock serious revenue for $TSLA beyond just vehicle sales

@SawyerMerritt Shouldn’t it be the simplest use case possible? No traffic or pedestrians or signs, one lane, etc. Should just work given the current capabilities

@SawyerMerritt Last I heard their contract with Vegas authority was prohibiting them to use even auto pilot.

@SawyerMerritt It feels like a technology convergence: Tesla, The Boring Company, SpaceX, and robotics tech—all starting to sync up. Full Self-Driving 14 being apart of the Vegas Loop, Optimus, and possibly SpaceX.

@SawyerMerritt According to Joe's video, the front cameras are disabled because of a calibration error driving in tunnels.
