@davidsoskin @OxfordUnion Scores turned away? Are these reports reliably sourced? If they went to the Goodman Library with their Union card or valid photo ID, what were the grounds for turning them away?

@Adrian_Hilton @OxfordUnion Yes, I believe this is accurate. A complaint has already been lodged. They had the valid ID but @OxfordUnion could not, apparently, find a record of their membership. My guess is that record-keeping of life members is abysmal - especially those from a long time ago!

@Fremond_ @OxfordUnion Their paperwork was not in order. All they needed to produce was a photo ID but my guess is @OxfordUnion record-keeping of their life members is abysmal. If they do not allow distinguished former officers and members of the House of Lords to vote, what hope is there?

@davidsoskin @OxfordUnion I once voted with an American Express card as proof of identity. It is unclear to me what the precipitant was for making it harder to vote.

@davidsoskin @OxfordUnion The students manning the verification of voters were really nice, careful and scrupulous when I was there. The membership records are terrible (as I discovered a few years ago when renewing my card). I feel really sorry for the returning officers - in an impossible situation.
