2/ Antisemitism of the mob can be contained as long as elites abstain. But when their interests converge in what Hannah Arendt called a “temporary alliance of the mob and the elite,” a purge begins. While the mob is raging, the elites are much more calculating.

3/ Elites always intellectualize and moralize their hate, and then frame it as a universal cause everyone must join. They don't attack Jews because of their beliefs; they attack their beliefs because they are Jews.

4/ Today’s antisemitism is once again being laundered through the moral language of elites, this time in the form of “anti-Zionism.” For insecure elites, anti-Zionism is a powerful remedy to their problem of the “over-represented Jew."

5/ This mechanism isn’t new. The Spanish Inquisition began with a “purity of blood” tests to root out the descents of converts surpassing their peers in the static Church hierarchy. It was an excuse for a purge that philosopher Unamuno called “organized envy.”

6/ This pattern reappeared in the Dreyfus era, Nazi Germany & Soviet Russia. They attacked whatever beliefs Jews to avenge their envy and inferiority. It was “the treason of the intellectuals”— when elites exploited mass prejudice to destroy rivals.

7/ The purge of Zionists began decades ago in academic departments captured by dogma and Gulf money. In parallel, apolitical human rights organizations founded by Jews (Amnesty, HRW, MSF, IRC, SPLC), began to fixate on Israel’s “crimes.”

8/ Under the noble pretext of “representation,” it soon spread to publishing, journalism, art and film, all shrinking sectors where careers advance through someone’s retirement or cancellation.

9/ Then it reached labor, feminist and climate groups, truly universal causes which face waning prestige. As Greta shows, anti-Zionism lets her reclaim legitimacy and moral relevance through manufactured outrage.

10/ Online, it’s fueled by failed elites: “independent journalists” blocked or exiled from mainstream work —ideologically fluid but reliably “anti-Zionist.

11/ And in politics, where advancement is always zero-sum, anti-Zionism provides a clean break with the party elders “owned by Israel.” From the Squad and Mamdani to Corbyn and Sultana, it’s an effective strategy to signal rebellion and mobilize the masses.

12/ As in the past, this purge won’t stop with Zionist Jews and their allies. It will consume non-Jews insufficiently zealous in their denunciations—then the anti-Zionist Jews and "conversos" who thought they’d be spared.

13/ We must see the hate to believe it, which is why freedom of speech must be preserved. We can’t outlaw hate or ignorance, but we can stop importing them through institutions, funding and digital propaganda coming from unfree regimes.

14/ Not all is lost! In competitive arenas such as tech, finance, medicine, and law, where results are measurable, organized envy finds little oxygen. Merit and growth remain shields against ideological capture.

15/ This isn’t a disease of left or right. Zionism and Israel’s defense must remain non-partisan. Diaspora Jews and Israeli leaders alike must build bridges across the spectrum and remind our allies how much we value them.

16/ The antidote to exclusion is creation! When Jews were shut out of publishing, finance or law, they built new firms. When denied justice, they founded rights and aid groups. When barred from culture, they built Hollywood. And when denied refuge, they built a state.

17/17 Every time Jews built anew, they turned exclusion into renewal. The same spirit must guide us now: build, create, learn and discover. Don’t bow to resentment or the moralizing of the mediocre. Reject victimhood and never let internal disagreement become division.
