Mongodb is not a database, it doesn't scale at all Just use postgres

Image in tweet by ayush

@ayshtwt you've clearly never tried using google sheets as a database

@umang13_ I prefer excel

@ayshtwt do you know people still use google sheet as a db , i am joking, i have been asked by a client to implement it.

@kumard_3 Yeah, i made a web app with sheets as a db Pretty cool because non tech people can easily manage it

@ayshtwt Sorry… not a database either https://youtu.be/b7eXdUOzUTM?s...

@devopstoolbox Already watched this. My YouTube tl is filled with your videos 😭

@ayshtwt its a document store aka nosql database

@ChiragAgg5k It's Just a json file bro

@ayshtwt Is this ragebait 😭😭

@thegubshbs12345 Depends on the viewer

@ayshtwt Which application of yours using mongodb failed to scale??

@EshanBhat11 My 1b arr sass idea

@ayshtwt You do know both have different purposes?? And mongodb do scale very well

@idmpotent do you know*

@ayshtwt @grok is it true mongodb does not scale ?

@ayshtwt I agree, before few month ago i used it for realtime data parsing it was crashing easy ( its kinda a test db not scalable db)

@ayshtwt Is this funny 😅

@ayshtwt It does not scale for search or aggregations, but it does scale greatly for hash maps. For example, for this ID, give me this complex doc with nested data upon nested data in JSON format

@ayshtwt A better way to put it: MongoDB is missing a word "Structured"

@ayshtwt i think i'm just gonna throw 1400 jsons on a cdn instead and call it a day

@ayshtwt I do prefer PostgreSQL for almost all use cases.

@ayshtwt Obvious reference. MongoDB is webscale! https://youtu.be/b2F-DItXtZs

@ayshtwt Have you tried surrealdb those guys make something cool

@ayshtwt looooool … That's what MongoDB was designed for (scale-out, scale-up). Another vibecoder who doesn't understand it at all.

@ayshtwt I picked postgres because of the elephant

@ayshtwt if this is a rage bait.. I am raged mongodb is best, you can just throw in anything literally anything

@ayshtwt Introducing http://costplusdb.dev I forget which famous developer asked for it - said was great start up idea so being the good lad I am whipped it up and shipped 3 days later

@ayshtwt fairly certain they’re acid compliant at the document level. this is a noob take. use the tool for the job. sometimes no-sql is better than a full blown rdbms

@ayshtwt GoatSeSQL

@ayshtwt Hold on right there - what does "db" stand for in its name then!!?? Please share your secrets!
