Here’s how we spent 7 memorable days in our friendly neighbourhood country of Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 I was blown away, not just by the natural beauty & hospitality but also by the infrastructure, civic sense & how global the island nation is 🤯😍 We enjoyed the best of both worlds with
Flights : AI 276 Mumbai to Colombo AI 275 Colombo to Mumbai Both direct We hate midnight & early morning flights So 12:25 pm & 04:00 pm flights respectively, were our natural choices These particular flights go from 18-23k INR per person, return, depending on the season
Day 1 (part 1) Landed at Colombo airport at 3pm & we were out by 03:30 pm Carried some USD which I got exchanged at almost no extra premium to the market price at the airport 😍 Collected an eSIM at the airport from dialog with with 30GB 5G internet for just INR 540 (Highly
Day 1 (part 2) & day 2(part 1) We arrived at the Golden Ridge hotel, Nuwara Eliya at 9 pm This resort reminded us of our stay Oberoi Wildflower Hall Shimla 😍 We selected a Mountain View suite, their best offering which cost us INR 30K a night (half of what Khyber offers btw)
Day 2 (part 2) A trip to Nuwara Eliya’s finest tea estates ☕️⛰️ We explored the Labookellie tea estate (Damro), about a 150 year old estate nestled in the beautiful hills I highly recommend taking the Tea safari costing INR 6K for a group, where they take you deep into the
Day 3 (part 1) We checked out of the Golden Ridge hotel & visited the Seeta Amman Kovil (Sita Mata Mandir) on our way to Galle A temple of great historic importance. This is supposedly the location where Sita Mata was held captive in the Ashok vatika The temple houses
Day 3 (part 2) Azuri bay was the least favourite stay of ours 😑 It cost INR 6K a night & honestly it wasn’t worth even 3K Anyway, we had an exciting dinner booked ahead for us at the Aqua forte at Galle fort. I recommended making a reservation from their website
Day 4 We love swimming & beach clubs for their chill vibe so we woke up early to travel 20 minutes to Angel beach club Unawatuna. We were the first ones to arrive hence we got a free entry 😍 (else beds close to the pool need to be paid for) Great music, delicious food & an
Day 5 (part 1) Breakfast at Kixi Galle fort. Sri Lankan cafés are as good as the best cafés you’d see at Bandra, Khar & Juhu 💯 Explored the rustic beauty of Galle fort on foot Got back to our hotel to check out & leave for our next stop Mirissa
Day 5 (part 2) We found a really cool place at Ahangama, called Ember & Ice which offers an ice bath (2 deg C & 6 deg C) & sauna It costs just INR 900 per person for an hour in which we took multiple dips & sauna. Please do not miss out on this ! Later we checked into this
Day 6 (part 1) We bid adieu to Mirissa. A short but memorable trip😍 Breakfast at the Insta famous Kai, Ahangama. It didn’t disappoint. View, food & service were a 10/10 It had an access to beach. I love how clean Sri Lankans keep their beaches 🙌🏻
Day 6 (part 2) In about 2 more hours from Ahangama, we reached our final destination, Colombo First impressions : Clean roads, modern infrastructure, good AQI We checked in at the ultra luxe ITC Ratnadipa where my Bonvoy points came handy. Got a decent upgrade on my room as
Day 6 (part 3) While on foot we came across The department of coffee, a highly technical, coffee enthusiasts’ paradise which served every possible style of coffee that there is😍 I tried a Belgian siphon the first time & I was amazed by the clean, crisp cup of black coffee I
Day 7 (part 1) Woke up to this beautiful sea view 😍 Took a quick dip at their infinity pool. Isn’t that a heck of a view? Breakfast at their Pavilion restaurant with some serene flute being played in the background 🤌🏻 ITC Ratnadipa, is truly a delight to stay at ❤️
Day 7 (part 2) Checkout from the hotel. A final stop at the Black cat café, a rustic, warm café well known for their cold brews & flat white. Needless to say, the food was delicious. Sri Lanka has a vibrant café culture ❤️ An hour’s drive to Colombo airport. Indusind Avios visa
Special mention to our guide, Dilshaan, who made this trip memorable👊🏻 - Fees were reasonable. In fact I found them lower than what he deserves 😅 - Polite & professional - Fluent in Hindi & English (rare combo for Sri Lanka) - He once went out of his way, drove about 30 Kms to
Budget in INR for two: Flights : 42K Hotels : 80K Logistics : 28K (lot of distance covered on road) Food : 25K Activities : 20K Total 1.95L

@Fittrwithkj Every country that has embraced Buddhism reflects a sense of calmness and compassion, whether it’s Sri Lanka or the nations of Southeast Asia. It’s a pity that India, the birthplace of Buddhism, discarded it and has now become one of the most uncivil societies in the world.
@Fittrwithkj Thanks for visiting #SriLanka
@Fittrwithkj Thanks to @PresRajapaksa
