Hey, Riftbounders! We've seen feedback pop up from the community, coming out of our second Riftbound preorder on the Riot Games Merch store. I wanted to drop in to share some thoughts around product availability / getting cards into the hands of players around the world. (1/6)
First up: We hear you on amount of product. Demand is high and it's been difficult to get product. To address that, we've already hit additional reprints that will hit stores between launch and end of year (timing varies by region). (2/6)
Our goal is make sure everyone can play the game and get access to the product. We'll continue to monitor demand and adjust our plans as needed. (3/6)
Second: we see the concern around bad actors with the online preorders. We want Riftbound to be accessible to you, so we've implemented a couple of tools to fight there including requiring a Riot account and only allowing 1 purchase per Riot account. (4/6)
We've monitored the data closely (how old accounts are, unique IDs, etc); so far, the product has been landing in the hands of real players. In fact, 80%+ were from a Riot ID made before 2025 which is a good sign. But it's not a 'solved' problem - we're continuing to watch (5/6)
Thank you for being so excited about this game! The team and I are so hyped to see all the decks that you come up - please continue to share your feedback! We'll continue to level up set over set. (6/6)
@davetron Happy to see some issues addressed, but my LGS said their allocation is abyssmal and they’re a fairly high level store. Rough seeing product literally just unavailable. I want to support my LGS.
@davetron The problem is we don’t want product at the end of the year. We wanted it on release day. We don’t want virtual drops, we want our LGS to get the product they requested from distributors
@davetron Only thing that matters is whether or not we can reasonably find product for at or near MSRP st launch or very shortly after. I have zero interest and grace for anymore card games to just get scalped and made unplayable anymore. I'll just give up and play something else
@davetron I appreciate the communication but there's only so much effort people will go through to play. Old accs should have gotten prio. Played league for 10+ years, played LoR, can't try out riftbound cause people want to make 100$+/box. If it's too difficult to access I simply won't.
@davetron One of the main issues is that you don't regulate or cap the markup distributors can make on your product. For us in Canada, we have 1 big distributor only and they are known to withhold product and cancel most of the shops orders in order to mark up the prices..
@davetron Here in Brazil store owners are REALLY concerned with the product landing, it's already October 21st and they yet aren't sure if the products will arrive to the launch on 31st, not adding to the fact that we here in south america simply can't buy the worlds bundle
@davetron As much as it is easy to blame scalpers, LGS's are currently doing more damage with out of this world preorder prices. (I've yet to see one LGS offer online preorder even remotely near MSRP.) Most are 220+. Which then leads potential players with 1 of 3 options. Option 1:
@davetron Your main guy did an interview saying you guys were gonna do everything to support LGSs and then proceed to sell all the products online yourselves leaving no allocation for LGSs which are the places where communities are born and cultivated. Your actions speak louder than words
@davetron @RiftboundReport There’s another problem: When private person buy or pre-order products just to resell them at scalper prices, that’s already bad. But some local game stores do the same thing, selling your products at unbelievable prices, and that’s really disgusting 1/2
@davetron My biggest complaint is, it never was available in Japan. I would need to buy and pay extra shipping from another country to get my hands on the riftbound. It kinda sad how Japan doesn’t get any cool merch, even tho China is right there with tons of merch.
@davetron We really need to do something. Resellers who have VAT advantages are selling sets for €200. We are 80% more expensive than the base price. Before it's even playable, the game is becoming a scam.
@davetron Good to hear!
@davetron Thank you for doing this! I didnt even bother buying because i was worried about scalping and bots buying the inventory. Ill try to pick one up next time :)
@davetron any news about APAC? 🥹
@davetron Love the communication you guys are doing, your presence in the unofficial official discord server is also very much appriciated. Keep up the good work, can't wait for launch next week! <3
@davetron @RiftboundReport Are there any news for the release date in the APAC region such as Singapore? @playriftbound
@davetron Any word on when/if Riftbound will be printed in other languages?
@davetron it wasnt that bad in China, How tf did you guys managed it that baaaad.
@davetron Hey! I managed to order only one starter deck from the riot website, and to be honest i regret it since i'm not sure i'll get it delivered on November 1st at the earliest. I easily called four stores, some of which are way to far from my location. I went to two of the closest 1/3
@davetron As bluntly as I can say it, if I can't get it within a month of launch, I and everyone i know will not play the game and will likely never try and touch it again. Same reason I already gave up on Gundam. Why waste months hoping I can get reasonly priced cards?
@davetron Why you sell Regional tickets on a Monday morning start of work week. Do better
@davetron Saquen la wea en Español pa jugar con la Bendi 🥲
@davetron I still haven't gotten my order from August 4th. Says it's processing.
@davetron Well i guess. It wont be possible acquiring the cards at msrp.
@davetron We don't speak English. Just send worlds languages
@davetron Before you secure a multi-year deal with a Pacific distribution, make sure the Western poor attitude to min-max the games don't get any more traction. I really don't see "this deck is X metas" contents help Riftbound any good on its sales.
@davetron Hmmmm
