@hakluke I had a situation where wifi would keep closing up a channel, making my devices switch. Turns out, some of the ship's radars were causing interference, as I am living very much seaside. I only figured it out because when I would close my drapes, wifi would be working great

@hakluke I had the same issue with a DP to DVI adapter. My router was literally in the same room. Monitor on programmatically - 5 GHz wifi is immediately lost. 2.4 is fine. Monitor off - wifi comes back. Pain in the ass to debug it. And a huge surprise when I figured out the root cause

@hakluke Yup. EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) is a real thing. You'd be shocked how many times I've fixed weird problems with a ferrite core. I discovered one day my window-mounted GPS antenna for my femtocell lost satellite visibility whenever the new TV was on.

@hakluke Get a proper and fully shielded HDMI cable. The production cost of most HDMI and USB cables is barely more than a pack of Chinese noodles, so what did you expect? Engineering corners get cut below that fancy plastic molding, regardless the number of compliance stamps it carries.

@hakluke I had a 10m "Cat 8" LAN cable bought at Amazon, which would jam bluetooth and wlan in the neighbourhood. Nice.

@hakluke HDMI quality cable are a shame to find. They are all called "4K" or so, but respect nothing. Put money in your cables, always, but not for gold on connectors : for shield and certification :)
