Below a quick summary of each incident & then added some links/screenshots in the comments. The list isn’t meant to be comprehensive-just an organized spot for some of the GCC topics I discuss on X. Feel free to DM me—not everything can be shared publicly.

1) 3 former employees/members are suing GCC for wrongful firing. Their supervisor (the son of a GCC elder) lied about asbestos testing during construction on a GCC elementary school, exposing workers & their families. The employees were fired after raising concerns to elders.

2) TMU was place on probation in 2018. The WASC report cited a climate of “fear, intimidation & bullying” that was clear after employee interviews. There were concerns re board independence, financial & operations integrity (some involving JMac’s son in law Kory Welch).

3) Steve Lawson was head of DMin program at TMS, taught in JMac’s ministries & was on the TMU board until ~2021. In 2024 it was exposed that he had an “inappropriate relationship” with a lady in the GCC college ministry. He was fired w/o investigation or public statement by TMS.

4) GCC member Lorraine Zielinski got counsel from elder Riccardi & others for an ab*sive marriage. The husband planned to separate & remarry but GCC elders insisted she stay w/ him, violated her privacy (leading to danger & distress) & disciplined her when she tried to resign.

5) Dennis Derr (family friend) was a young adults’ pastor for many years at GCC. He was later accused by multiple relatives of s*xual ab*se and took his life.

6) A well known suicide related to GCC: TMS student Kenneth Nally received poor mental health counsel there in the 70s. When he took his life, the family sued for wrongful death. However the judge ruled that clergy are not subject to the same legal duty of care as professionals.

7) Deon Montgomery, an acquaintance, served in Children’s Ministry at GCC for years. After multiple parental complaints about his behavior, he moved on to Calvary Bible where he also served in children’s ministry. In 2018, he was arrested for possession/distribution of CSAM.

8) Timothy Kirk was a mentor in the GCC Bible study that my husband & I attended. He was arrested & convicted of “lewd acts with a child”. Those of us on leadership in the study were not made aware of his conviction. He is serving his 40 yr sentence in prison.

9) Michael Mahoney was GCC executive pastor/personal assistant to JMac/elder over Spanish ministries. His firing was announced at a communion service, citing his “many sins.” Allegations included embezzlement, plagiarism, bullying & s*xual ab*se of male minors in South America.

10) Paul Guay was a pastor at GCC who s*xually ab*sed his daughter Wendy. This was reported to JMac but they kept Paul on staff until he later kissed a secretary. Guay went on to pastor other churches, including Placerita Bible Church, next door to TMU. Guay died in 2012.

11) David Gray taught at GCC’s elementary school. He & Eileen got counseling at GCC for their marriage & his ab*se. She was excommunicated for not breaking the restraining order against him. David was later arrested for child m*lestation/ab*se. The church supports him in prison.

12) Former GCC elder Hohn Cho investigated the case of David & Eileen Gray. In doing so he realized that this & other ab*se cases had been mishandled by the church. When he presented evidence & urged the elder board to repent, JMac told him to walk back his position or resign.

13) GCC elder Bill Shannon has been involved with many mishandled ab*se cases at GCC. Multiple credible charges against him triggered an ACBC investigation. Instead of cooperating, he resigned & was removed from the ACBC registry of counselors & speaker schedule.

14) Former GCC member “Krista” says GCC leader Sheldon Ko & others told her to remain in a marriage w/ infidelity, r*ape & child ab*se. Statute of limitations prevented prosecution, but she had a restraining order when they encouraged her to submit & take her husband back.

15) Peter Sammons, former TMS student & professor, was credibly accused of plagiarism. He was subsequently let go from TMS without public comment regarding investigation of these allegations. He is now on faculty at the Founders Seminary.

16) Former GCC college pastor/Dmin director Austin Duncan was reportedly chosen by JMac to be main teacher at GCC in winter 2025. Austin preached for 5 months, then disappeared in June amid allegations of plagiarism. His goodbye letter was read by proxy at the college ministry.

17) Matt MacArthur reportedly told brother Mark not to speak at the memorial for their dad, JMac. Audio team & security were not to let him talk. Mark went onstage unscheduled; his mic was cut & his eulogy edited from the uploaded recording of the memorial for “good reasons.”

@ov_rod Not at all. Btw I attend a church that practices church discipline.

@neeva_walters This is very well done. Lots of other smaller things that point to the culture, decision making process, and understanding of leadership that made these incidents possible. Then other bigger issues: Sam Horn's railroading, response to covid, steeplehouse water woes, etc

@raskolnehkov Thanks & I so appreciate yours & anyone’s input into underlying approaches that led to the development of this culture. The list just keeps going…the ones you mention definitely deserve a spot. Not to mention the myriad of “little people” who were just hurt & never spoke up.

@neeva_walters Sounds like you have a problem with people who do bad things, not JMac. People do bad things. Do you really think they can read the hearts of these people when they hire them. An unfair standard. You must have been really hurt to put out slop like this.

@neeva_walters @Incogniofoshow There is a new California law that allows adult victims for a time to press charges regarding sexual abuse and coverups at any time. If enough victims press charges, GCC/TMS will finally need to shut down.

@neeva_walters Acts 5 demonstrates church discipline through the story of Ananias&Sapphira,who lied about a donation and were struck dead.This event served as a divine warning to the early church,emphasizing the seriousness of hypocrisy&the importance of holiness, leading to a"great fear"

@neeva_walters Yup. The culture there is if you speak up, you talk, they make you walk. Sad. For a ministry that claims to preach the truth, they don’t live it. Ezekiel 34 is still a problem.

@neeva_walters We will all give an account to God face to face. Don't worry because you are in the book of life written and you didn't look at the man, see Christ. That is the problem with us Christians who believe that men are the ones who have gone to the cross and Christ

@neeva_walters As much as I like JMac I didn’t like his embellished football career and have doubts he really was at MLK’s in Memphis the night he was assassinated. Little lies are damning.

@neeva_walters Is there a reason you didn’t bring this up with JMac was alive? Are you saying that JMac was responsible for EVERYTHING bad that happen for all these cases?
