Is the government trying to juice the condo market by making renting even more unstable and nerve-wracking? Imagine trying to raise your kids in an apartment your landlord can simply kick you out of ... or double the rent for ... after each year?

@pothen It’s a free market, don’t do business with people who aren’t reasonable

@pothen Yes. Because if there’s a real housing crash, it will become immediately apparent how unstable and weak Ontario’s economy really is! Only way to keep a Ponzi scheme going is to find new chumps!

@pothen @FixitCanada Our instability has been monetized.

@pothen The price of condos will continue to collapse in Canada and Ontario will be hardest hit ... besides, everyone is leaving Ontario and this will only accelerate the exodus.

@pothen I moved into my apartment in 1997, I raised my family here. Now at 68 I cannot afford to pay the new rent others are paying. This will create many homeless seniors for this province. Who is paying Ford to pull this one through? His rich buddies?

@pothen i’m not sure this will happen

@pothen Yes, it's to move all the terrible condos that no one wants to buy.

@pothen Students will be devastated. Off-campus housing is wildly expensive and hard to find. This will have our kids spending even more time not studying as they look for new housing, roommates, jobs and moving endlessly.

@pothen Alberta has no rent control this is what conservatives do best a landlord can raise rent in Alberta 200% if you can't afford it out tenants go to the parks then city's say you can't live in the parks Well there's going to be camp grounds in every park and nothing city's can do

@pothen Additionally imagine the anxiety level of the already paycheque to paycheque lowest paid and tentative gig 3 jobs people. Imagine the long term effects of their children forced to change schools and the instability of their lives

@pothen Revoking Security of Tenure āž”ļøthe backbone of Renters' Rights is a punitive policy decision that will cause Tremendous harm to responsible, reliable, long-term renters to seniors, young people, working class families & people who rely on OW/ODSP 1/3 of Ontarians RENT

@pothen market rent is set by supply and demand and no individual landlord has much of any power over setting the rent, hope this helps!

@pothen Gotta push back

@pothen Everyone can just live out of suitcases and keep all their stuff in storage lockers. What a glorious province and country.

@pothen DEPORT FORD TOO

@pothen Thank you for mentioning this. I was also wondering if Doug Ford is creating a greater crisis in rental homes to push people into a slumping condo market. #onpoli there’s always a catch

@pothen Maybe it's a good reason for hypocrites like you to not be ok with policy that prices a whole generation out of ownership. Renting is always unstable and up to political whims.

@pothen Imagine being a landlord that has invested a large amount of money invested and getting a deadbeat tennant.
