🚨 FPL GW9 META THREAD (Part 2) 🚨 Midfielders are finally starting to look exciting again 👀 We’ve all been talking about “Big at the Back” — but what about Big in the Middle? The next few weeks could be all about the mids. Let’s dive into what the data says 💫 🧵👇
I’ve built a basic projection model myself 🧮 Used @elevenify projections + player stats (from @FFH_HQ) to make rough estimates for the next 3–6 GWs. The results threw up some very interesting names 👇
Top 3 midfielders on projections? 👉 Enzo Fernández 👉 Cody Gakpo 👉 Eberechi Eze Surprising? Not really — they play for teams with some of the highest goal-scoring odds outside of Man City ⚽️
Here’s how the attacking odds stack up 📊 Top 3 for each week: 🔹 GW9: Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool 🔹 GW10: Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City 🔹 GW11: Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace 🔹 GW12 & 14: Liverpool on top again Arsenal are consistently 2nd through the horizon. Stability ✅
That’s why the likes of Saka, Enzo and Eze keep popping up — they’re sitting right at the intersection of form + fixtures. And one of those names in particular… deserves a deeper look 👇
Saka vs Eze ⚔️ Eze has taken more shots and has a higher xG than Saka. He’s been unlucky not to score yet. Creativity? Behind on key passes… But he’s got 3 assists, while Saka has none 🤯
Also — Eze is 2.4M cheaper 💸 That’s not a small saving when every 0.1M counts. As a Gyökeres owner, I’m tempted to double up on Arsenal attack against the Saka owners. Feels like the perfect differential route 🧨
This will probably be my first big gamble of the season. And I love it. I’ll have an Arsenal trio of: 🔴 Gyökeres 🔴 Eze 🔴 Raya No Saka, no Gabriel, no Timber. Just pure chaos energy 😎
Next up — Gamble No. 2 🎲 Cody Gakpo 🔴 I’m predicting he and Isak will be popular picks by GW12, so I’m jumping early. Early movers get rewarded in FPL — if the data backs it.
And the data does back it 👇 Among all Liverpool attackers, Gakpo leads in: 🔹 Shots 🔹 Key passes 🔹 xGI That’s right — ahead of Ekitike, Isak, Wirtz and even Salah😳
The best part? With most people off Salah now, almost no one owns a Liverpool attacker. Gakpo’s ownership is just 11%. Same as Eze. Two powerful differentials for me, right when the fixtures turn 🔥
My 3rd midfield move is a calmer one 😌 Reijnders ➡️ Enzo Fernández 🔵 Completes my triple midfield swap — Eze, Gakpo, and Enzo all in. Enzo is another point of parity Sometimes the best way to shake up your rank is to refresh the engine room 💪
Now for the 3rd gamble (and the one that hurts the most 😅) Taking a hit to bring in Reece James 💥 I mentioned this in my thread on Wednesday — I’m bullish on Chelsea defence. The numbers back it. https://x.com/BakchodFpl/statu...
James has looked sharp in his last 4 appearances: Good attacking involvement, bonus potential, and fixtures to match. He’s only 6% owned too. A rare differential in a template-heavy defender market 👀
So the full plan looks like this 👇 OUT: Van de Ven, Foden, Reijnders, Bruno Fernandes IN: James, Enzo, Eze, Gakpo That’s a triple-up on Chelsea 💙 And a triple-up on Arsenal ❤️ Go big or go home 😎
It’s a bold play, but feels strategic, not impulsive. After this, I can likely roll for a few weeks and enter GW12 with 3 FTs — ready to add another Liverpool attacker if needed 🔁
“Hits — yes or no?” Let’s do some maths 🧮 At 450+ points, a -4 hit is <1% of my total points so far. If the upside is significant (and it often is around fixture swings), I’ll happily take one.
It’s about mindset. You can’t be scared of losing 4 points when there’s potential to gain 20+. Calculated aggression > passive safety every single time 🔥
So yeah — 4 transfers. 3 midfielders. 1 big gamble at the back. A mix of data, gut, and good old chaos 😎 Can’t wait to see how this one plays out.
