if i was a young designer with no money for a paid framer plan i definitely would *NOT* follow this thread to add a custom domain and remove the badge... 🧵:
[1] disclaimer: no this isn't ethical, but if you’re a broke creative just trying to get your work out there, this is for you. fake it till you make it sorta thing, we all start somewhere. here’s how it’s done:
[2] register a cloudflare account and either buy or onboard your domain. cloudflare basically holds your hand through this part so i won't go into detail. make sure you've got a domain before moving on.
[3] head to the "compute (workers)" tab and hit the create application button. workers are just cloudflares method of letting you run custom code at the edge.
[4] we're going to select "start with hello world!" and give our worker a name. keep it simple like "framer-worker" and hit the deploy button.
[5] now let's add in our workers code, hit "edit code" to be taken to the editor. the next part is simple, visit and copy the code from: https://copyandpaste.at/dBEhSf... come back to the editor, paste it and replace the url at the top of the file. then hit deploy!
[6] quick break for a super simple look at what's happening here: this worker is a reverse proxy. instead of users asking framer for your site, they ask our worker, and he HATES framer badges, so he removes them on the fly before delivery.
[7] now let's hook up our domain: go back to your workers overview and across to the settings tab. then under "domains & routes" click "+ add" and "custom domain" type in the domain from step [1] and add domain.
[8] visit your domain and check things out. that's it, you're done. final message: don't abuse this. framer is incredible and if you can afford it, pay for it. but if not, you do you, i'm not your mum
